Glen Rock May 4, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 3 School board election results remain unsettled by John Koster The $40,033,500 tax levy associated with the Glen Rock Board of Education’s 2011-12 budget was approved 1,306 to 810, and both unchallenged school board incumbents won reelection in last week’s election, but at press time, no one knew the identity of the third person elected to the board. Election workers stayed up until after 2 a.m. on election night checking write-ins, but the verification process was so intensive and prolonged that, at press time, the workers said they would not know until this week who would be seated as the third member of the Glen Rock Board of Education. The third member will be the leading, qualified write-in candidate, as only two candidates filed for the three available seats on the school board. Two-term incumbent Bill Clark opted not to seek a new term in this spring’s election. Rona McNabola received 1,184 votes and Randi Blumberg received 1,111 votes in their successful bids for reelection. Blumberg has been president of both the Glen Rock Middle School-High School Home & School Association and the Coleman School Home & School Association. The trustee holds a degree from Ramapo College and has attended graduate school at the New School in New York City. Blumberg was recently the only board member to vote against outsourcing teachers’ aides and custodial positions in the school system. Currently serving as president of the board of education, McNabola is a graduate of Russell Sage College with graduate credits from Rutgers University. She is widely recognized as an expert on the abilities and rights of individuals with special needs. McNabola, who lost and then regained a seat on the school board, has served more years on the board than any of the trustees who are now serving.
