Ridgewood Notes
Y hosts Healthy Kids Day On Saturday, April 2, the Ridgewood YMCA encourages all children and parents to come to the Y for a play date and commit to being active every day. It’s all part of the YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day™ – the nation’s largest health day for families. The free event will take place 112 Oak Street in Ridgewood from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Activities will include family swimming, face painting, obstacles courses, magic shows, and summer camp games. The Y holds Healthy Kids Day to teach healthy habits and inspire a lifetime love of physical activity. At a time when 33 percent of American children are overweight or obese (according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), developing healthier habits that include increased physical activity is more important than ever. Healthy Kids Day will be celebrated at nearly 1,600 Y’s across the country, with more than 700,000 families expected to attend this year. For more information, contact Chris Wolfstirn at (201) 444-5600, extension 339 or visit www.ridgewoodymca.org. Murphy’s use of tones, colors and textures provided by leaves, petals, stems, and grasses, produces works that transcend traditional approaches to pressed flower art. She is a self-trained artist and a member of ARTsee, a group of artists in Basking Ridge and Bernardsville. She has exhibited in numerous venues including arboretums, galleries, and corporate sites, and her work is found in private collections and in commercial venues.
