Emmanuel asks...
Can You Help?
Our hat’s off to Girl Scout Troop 1202 from Academy of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Franklin Lakes. The girls came by to learn about what we do and brought groceries for our food pantry. The girls included Maria, Heidi, Aimee, Gabby, Elizabeth, Julia, Haley, Kiersten, Allie, Hannah, and Gracie. Special thanks to their leader, Marlene Griffin. Thanks to the Abundant Life Reformed Church of Wyckoff for their food donation and to Lincoln School in Wyckoff for their food collection. We currently have 16 families receiving eight to 10 bags of food every month. Help us fill our pantry by purchasing and donating non-perishable items. We still need food drivers who are willing to deliver food from our pantry to our families in Bergen and Essex counties. A background check is required. 4-29-09 karen/janine Consider putting together an Easter basket for one of our families. Baskets will go out with our April deliveries. EmmanuelHelp2x.75(4-29-09) Our next big event: We are pleased to announce the 3 x .75 our popular fun-filled weekend event, the Fine return of Art & Crafts Show, with art work, sculpture, jewelry, and all kinds of crafts. It will be held at McBride Field on Franklin Lake Road (across from Market Basket) in Franklin Lakes, on Saturday and Sunday, May 14 and 15 from 10 to 5. Admission is free, but a $2 per person donation is suggested. Call Mary Ellen Marra of Premiere Productions LLC at (201) 857-3930 for a vendor application. Harry Carson helps: Former linebacker of the New York Giants and Hall of Famer Harry Carson donated an autographed, full-sized helmet that is currently up for auction on charitybuzz.com. The winner will meet Carson at our location in Midland Park. We are very excited about this
act of generosity! Tiffany’s mom needs gas cards: Tiffany’s mom is a single-parent of three who is unable to work due to her daughter’s recent leukemia diagnosis. Due to the frequent hospital visits, the family is in great need of fuel assistance and other support. If you are able to donate gas gift cards or make a financial contribution to ECF, it would be greatly appreciated. With gas prices rising, this has become an even bigger hardship for our families. Note: Gas cards may be purchased at most grocery stores. This spring, think about having a Mother’s Day Tea in our honor. Invite your family and friends. We supply the tea and goodies. To help: We are in need of gently used clothes in the following sizes: girls 5-7 and 10-12, and boys 12-14. Please contact us before bringing them to our Midland Park office. Thank you. You can help in a variety of other ways. Turn your next event into a fundraiser by collecting checks or gift cards for our families. Approximately 70 cents from every dollar you
donate goes towards direct care for our families. Get your kids involved, too. If your company has a charitable giving program, please let us know. Many of the families we serve do not have the financial or emotional support to help them get through a major illness like cancer. Please remember that we do not charge anything for our services. We rely on you! Let us know if you would like an ECF representative to speak about our programs at your next fundraiser. If you have a few hours a week to spare, consider becoming a volunteer or just stop by and meet with us, take a look at our pantry, and see what ECF is all about. Volunteers are welcome to assist on Wednesday and Friday from 1 to 4 p.m. Call us at (201) 612-8118 before you stop by. Please do not leave items at the center without checking with us first. Our storage space is limited. The Northern Regional Center is located at 174 Paterson Avenue, Midland Park, NJ 07432. Please visit us at www.emmanuelcancer.org. As always, thank you for helping the children and their families! grader at Highland School. Reservations to the brunch are $80 per person.
