Page 10 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • March 23, 2011 Ridgewood On March 28, the Ridgewood YMCA, located at 112 Oak Street in Ridgewood, will hold an informational session about the 2011 International Summer Camp Program. Teens and their parents are invited to attend. Participants will have choice between trips to Senegal or the Dominican Republic. The program is open to teens in grades 10 through 12 and offers life changing experiences and opportunities for personal growth as participants complete important service projects abroad. “The purpose of ICP is to challenge each participant to develop a strong sense of self confidence, independence, and cooperation, as well as to deepen his or her appreciation for the diversity and interdependence among the world’s people. ICP is not a travel program, but an opportunity for personal growth and new cultural experience and understanding,” Ridgewood YMCA Executive Director Julie Gallanty explained. The trip to the Dominican Republic will take place June 30 through July 14. Participants will repair and build homes for families in need. The teens will also work alongside local Haitians and Dominicans to complete needed agricultural projects. The dates for ICP Senegal will be June 30 through July 17. Teen participants will build water wells for the Senegal YMCA Agricultural Center and complete important agricultural work at YMCA Camp Berdine.
