Dorothy E. Carino of Wyckoff, formerly of Ridgewood and Sarasota, Florida, died March 3. She was 93. She had been a volunteer with many organizations, including Valley Hospital in Ridgewood, and Church of the Palms in Sarasota, Florida. She is survived by her children Barbara Dreyer of Wyckoff, Lieutenant Colonel Lawrence J. Carino, USMC (Ret.) of Tampa, Florida, six grandchildren, seven great-grandsons, her brother H. Warren Gould of Midland Park, and her cousin Eleanor Wolthoff of Cape Haze, Florida. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph V. Carino. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. Memorial donations may be made to Wyckoff Reformed Church or to Oasis: A Haven for Women and Children, 59 Mill Street, Paterson, NJ 07501. James “Jim” Burn Healy III of Glen Rock died Feb. 20. He was 92. He was a graduate of Guilmant Organ School in New York. He was a founding member and one of the first deans of the North Jersey Chapter of the American Guild of Organists. Over the course of his career, he served as organist and choir director of the Third Presbyterian Church of Paterson, Warren Point Presbyterian Church in Fair Lawn, The Church in Radburn in Fair Lawn, and the First Presbyterian Church in Paterson. He gave private piano and organ lessons for over 40 years. He was a member of West Side Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood. He is survived by his sons Dwight of Ridgewood and Bruce of Boulder, Colorado, four grandchildren, and his brother Norman of Paterson. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret (nee Paterson). Arrangements were made by C.C. Van Emburgh, Inc. in Ridgewood. Memorial donations may be made to West Side Presbyterian Church in Ridgewood. A memorial service will be held March 19 at 11 a.m. at the West Side Presbyterian Church, 6 South Monroe Street, Ridgewood 07450. Anne MacIntosh of Venice, Florida died Feb. 27. She was 63. She was a graduate of Ridgewood High School Class of 1965. She received her bachelor’s degree in education from Lesley College in Cambridge, Massachusetts. She taught elementary school in Michigan where she won a Teacher of the Year award. She was a volunteer with many organizations including intercity special programs, Special Olympics, Girl Scout Leadership, and hospice. She is survived by her husband Douglas J. MacIntosh of Venice, Florida, her children Tammy Lynne Davis Frasca of Easton, Pennsylvania, Virginia Anne MacIntosh and Scott William MacIntosh, both of Sarasota, Florida, three grandchildren, her mother Elizabeth Hofmayer Post, and her brother Thomas Stuart Post Jr. She was predeceased by her father Thomas Stuart Post Sr. Arrangements were made by C.C. Van Emburgh, Inc. in Ridgewood. Memorial donations may be made to Special Olympics, Cleaning for a Reason, Smile Train, Parkinson’s Unity Walk, or the ASPCA.

Kathryn S. Rowell of Little Ferry, formerly of Ridgewood, died Feb. 24. She was 55. She is survived by siblings John Rowell, Mary Banen, Gordon Rowell, David Rowell, Natalie Rowell, and 12 nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents John and Emma Rowell, and her siblings Mark Rowell and Denise Rowell. Arrangements were made by Feeney Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Andrew “Andy” Stankovci of Ridgewood died Feb. 24. He was a U.S. Armed Forces veteran of WWII. Before retiring in 1986, he worked in the Ridgewood School System for over 30 years. He was a member at Saint John the Baptist R.O. Church in Passaic for 65 years, a member of the Orthodox Club of America, and H.I.L.T. in Ridgewood. He is survived by his wife Effie, his children Barbara, Sonya, and Christopher, and one grandson. Arrangements were made by J.C. Fila Lexington Memorial Home in Clifton. Memorial donations may be made to North Shore Animal League or Project Operation Smile. Ann J. “Angie” Van Dongen of Nazareth, Pennsylvania, formerly of Wyckoff, died Feb. 27. She was 79. She was a member of the Cedar Hill Christian Reformed Church in Wyckoff and attended the Grace Bible Fellowship Church of Nazareth in Nazareth, Pennsylvania. She is survived by her husband Donald E. Van Dongen, her daughters Linda Steiginga of Midland Park, Carol Hoeksema of Lansing, Illinois, and Nancy Tuit of Ringwood; her grandchildren Jennifer and Mark Anema, Katie and Jeff Sonnema, Philip and Lindsey Tuit, Jacob Tuit and fiancée Jillian Berry, Esther Tuit and Micah Hoeksema; three great grandchildren; and her siblings Peter Orbeck, Jr. of Jenison, Michigan, and Shirley Buwalda of Wayne. She was predeceased by her sister Wilma Bouman. Arrangements were made by Vander Plaat Funeral Home in Wyckoff. Catherine “Bobby” Vrana of Ridgewood died Feb. 23. She was 89. She was a homemaker and a member of H.I.L.T. She is survived by her children Jean Knee of Massachusetts, George Vrana of Oregon, and Michael Vrana of New York, seven grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband George. Arrangements were made by Nickerson Funeral Home. Temple Israel of Ridgewood is celebrating its 50th anniversary at its current address with a party on Sunday, March 13 at 5 p.m. Party goers at “Temple Israel’s 50th Jubilee on Grove Street” will enjoy an evening of hors d’oeuvres and the vodka or cocktail bars, live entertainment, buffet, and dessert. OPRC offers day of renewal
Ridgewood’s Old Paramus Reformed Church will sponsor a Women’s Retreat focused on “Wellness of Body, Mind & Spirit” on Saturday, March 26 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. OPRC women and women from the wider community will join together for this event. The day includes a continental breakfast, the program, and lunch. The cost is $30. Registration, which is due by March 18, may be completed by calling (201) 444-5933. The program will be facilitated by Reverend Jean Holmes. Holmes, ordained in 1987, served for 17 years in a series of Presbyterian pastoral roles. Carol O’Neill, a registered nurse, has been head of OPRC’s Health Ministry for 12 years, will co-lead the retreat.
