the Ridgewood schools to promote the study of the U.S. Constitution. Each year, the fifth and eighth grade classes study the Constitution. The committee will present bound copies of the Constitution to Ridgewood students. Each year, the Home and School Associations in Ridgewood participate in the Fourth of July parade by constructing floats. The committee hopes this theme will inspire discussions about our Constitution. The Ridgewood Fourth of July Celebration began in 1910 when the local papers, the civic section of the Woman’s Club, and the Ridgewood Fire Department joined forces to create a “safe and sane” holiday with an emphasis on patriotism. It has grown into one of the largest celebrations in the New York City area. For the fifth year, Ridgewood’s

The Constitution of the United States of America is the supreme law of the land. The Constitution is the framework for the organization of the United States government and for the relationship of the federal government with the states, citizens, and all people within the United States.
