It is loud and frenetic, and shot with a shaky camera to simulate the confusion and danger of upclose combat. There are several bonus featurettes, mostly focusing on how the special effects were created. “Kill the Irishman” (Anchor Bay), based on Rick Porello’s crime account “To Kill the Irishman: The War That Crippled the Mafia,” is an action movie about the rise and fall of real-life Irish-American mobster Danny Greene. Over the summer of 1976, 36 bombs detonate in the heart of Cleveland while a turf war rages between Irish mobster Greene (Ray Stevenson) and the Italian mafia. Viewers see Greene’s rise from a tough Cleveland neighborhood to enforcer in the local mob. Turning the tables on loan shark Shonder Bims (Christopher Walken) and allying himself with gangster John Nardi (Vincent D’Onofrio), Greene stops taking orders and pursues his own power. Surviving countless assassination attempts from the mob and killing off anyone who went after him, Greene became infamous for his invincibility and fearlessness, which eventually led to the collapse of mafia syndicates across the United States and earned him the status of the man the mob couldn’t kill. Paul Sorvino co-stars as an Italian gangster and Val Kilmer plays a cop trying to gather enough evidence to take Greene down. FINLEY There is an old saying that good casting is 90 percent of FINLEY a movie’s success. That certainly holds true with “Kill the Irishman.” Director Jonathan Hensleigh has assembled an excellent cast that elevates this otherwise routine gangster flick. Available in both Blu-ray and DVD formats, “Kill the Irishman” contains no extras. “Fall down Dead” (Image Entertainment) is a crime thriller. Christie Wallace (Dominique Swain) is being stalked by someone who does not know her, but is obsessed with her. His name is Aaron Garvey, and he is known as the “Picasso Killer” (Udo Kier) -- a madman whose victims are just sketches. One Christmas Eve, he discovers his ultimate prey as Christie is heading home from work. Most businesses have already closed, but she persuades a security guard (David Carradine) to let her into an office building. The killer follows her, intent on making Christie his next victim. Though the film is rated R, “Fall down Dead” is fairly tame. There are no extras on this DVD release. “Supernatural: The Complete Second Season” (Warner Home Video), available for the first time on Blu-ray, is the ongoing saga of brothers Sam (Jared Pedalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) Winchester, who hunt assorted demons and other supernatural creatures. In Season Two, they track down Azazel, the demon responsible for the deaths of their parents. They strive to learn the demon’s plans for Sam and other psychic young adults who were visited by Azazel as infants and given abilities, and whose mothers often then died in a fire. All 22 one-hour Season Two episodes are included in the four-disc Blu-ray set as are over four hours of extras. Among them are: “The Devil’s Road Map,” an in-depth, interactive look at the urban legends that inspired the creator of the series; audio commentary on three episodes; a gag reel; unaired scenes; Padalecki’s screen test; and a by G.M.
