Verducci is regional SOY; McNabola attains certification
Glen Rock Superintendent of Schools David Verducci has been named 2011 New Jersey Association of School Administrators Northern Regional Superintendent of the Year. Verducci was recognized at the 2011 NJASA/NJSBA Awards Luncheon on May 23. The regional superintendent awards are given in recognition of “strong leadership, creativity in successfully meeting the needs of students, communication skills, professionalism, community involvement and the success of students that has taken place during tenure in their district.” Among those on hand to congratulate Verducci was Glen Rock Board of Education President Rona McNabola, who has received the New Jersey School Board Association’s Certified Board Leader award, the highest level of individual certification that NJSBA currently offers. McNabola was one of only eight trustees in the state to earn the designation at this year’s NJSBA Board Member Academy Awards. Criteria includes attendance at the Leadership Conference, service as a board officer or

county association officer for at least a year, and a total of 55 professional development credits covering the areas of leadership, board effectiveness, ethics, school law, school finance, strategic planning, community relations and stu-
dent achievement. The NJSBA created the Board Member Academy in 1992 to provide formal training for the state’s 4,800 local board of education members.
