Page 6 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • July 27, 2011 Glen Rock The Glen Rock Police Department is investigating the midnight theft of a truck loaded with an estimated $23,000 in wine from the Opici warehouse last week. The truck was recovered on Route 20 in Paterson near Eighth Street, stripped of its cargo. Police said the loss of wine, while impressive, pales beside the loss of an estimated $200,000 in wine from the same warehouse about 10 years ago. Surveillance cameras showed five men in dark clothing exiting a dark vehicle about 12:20 a.m. on July 19. The five thieves reportedly damaged the ignitions of several other Warehouse truck stolen with $23,000 in wine trucks until they found one that started. The cameras indicate that four trucks were tampered with before the thieves found one that would start, and that security seals on the trucks were broken, but there was no deliberate vandalism. The stolen truck pulled out about 1:30 a.m. based on video surveillance. The theft was reported at 5:57 a.m., when an employee discovered that the truck was missing. The Bergen County Sheriff’s Office has joined in the investigation. No fingerprints appear to have been found at the scene of the crime. Police said that there were no known suspects at press time.
