Page 4 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • July 27, 2011 Ridgewood A Ridgewood resident has reported to the Ridgewood Detective Bureau that she suspects a repairman stole $111,000 in U.S. Savings Bonds while he was working at her home on North Van Dien Avenue. The repairman had been retained to work on the residence, and the alleged theft was reported on July 13. The Ridgewood Detective Bureau is investigating. On July 12, a Kensington Drive resident reported that she had placed an order that was to be delivered by UPS. The UPS driver was approached by a male who said he was expecting the package that was to be delivered, and offered to sign for it. The UPS driver obtained identification, and allowed the man to sign for the package. The man took the package and left. The Ridgewood resident who had placed the order, however, had never authorized anyone to sign for it on delivery and did not know who the man who signed for it was. Police are investigating. The next day, in an unrelated case, a 29-year-old Clifton woman was charged with two counts of identity theft and two counts of theft by deception after she was Police investigate report of missing savings bonds charged with using a Garfield woman’s identity to obtain treatment at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood in May and June.
