The event will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Upper Saddle River and Spring Lake resident Mary Higgins Clark will be honored with the “Ram of the Year” award. The Reverend Joseph M. McShane, S.J, president of Fordham, will be the featured speaker. The cost to attend is $70 per person for FNJ members; $80 for non-members. Auditions for ‘The Secret Garden’ set On July 28 and 29, the Franklin Lakes United Methodist Church will hold auditions for its concert version production of “The Secret Garden.” Auditions will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. at the church located at 454 Pulis Avenue in Franklin Lakes. Rehearsals will be in August and September; the production is planned for Sept. 17. Those who audition should prepare a brief song from the show or any contemporary show song, and bring the sheet music in the correct key, with a photo and resume. An accompanist will be provided. Class of 1966 plans reunion The Glen Rock High School Class of 1966 will hold its 45th reunion on Aug. 27. The gathering of the class and a gourmet barbecue will be held at the Glen Rock Pool Pavilion beginning at 2:30 p.m. For those who arrive the day before, the class will gather at the Glen Rock Inn on Rock Road, on Friday, Aug. 26. A tour of the newly renovated high school is scheduled for Sunday, Aug. 28, in the late morning. Attendees are invited to pack a picnic lunch and enjoy a day of fun. The fair will feature live performances by The Red Sky band. Educational demonstrations and hands-on activities will include booths with information about horticultural therapy, healthy lifestyles, planting, pond ecology, bee- keeping, and more. Visitors will view baby chicks hatching, learn about butterflies and bats, and experience live science experiments. Exhibit topics will include lawn care, soil conservation, recycling, composting, and fire safety. Also shown will be prize-winning 4-H member exhibits of flowers, vegetables, art, photos, stories, poems, sewing, cooking, crafts, and woodworking. Admission and parking are free. A non-perishable food donation for the Rutgers against Hunger campaign would be appreciated. Chamber to attend Jackals game The Mahwah Regional Chamber of Commerce will host a summer evening of baseball and networking opportunities on Tuesday, Aug. 2. The group will meet at Yogi Berra Stadium on the Montclair University campus in Upper Montclair to see the New Jersey Jackals play the Quebec Les Capitales. Game time is 7:05 p.m. The cost is $25 for members; $30 for non-members. The cost of the ticket includes a reserved seat for the game and unlimited hot dogs, hamburgers, and chicken sandwiches for the first 90 minutes after the gate opens in a private picnic area along the first base line, and unlimited nonalcoholic beverages throughout the game. Summer concert series continues The James L. Dean Band will entertain with the sounds of jazz, swing, and Big Band favorites at the New Jersey Botanical Garden on Aug. 5. This performance is part of the annual Summer Concert Series. The band, a highly versatile group that plays a wide variety of styles ranging from ‘40s swing to rock standards to show band performances with stars, has performed in clubs throughout New Jersey.
