Club plans Fall Frolic The Activities Club will hold its second annual Fall Frolic on Sept. 24 at the Community Church in Glen Rock. The event, which includes dancing, a live band and a DJ, will begin at 7 p.m. Members and guests are invited to attend. For more information about this event, call Steve Beiter at (201) 447-1830. The Activities Club is a group of retired and semi-retired men from Glen Rock and the surrounding communities involved in social, educational, intellectual, and athletic activities. Men interested in finding more about the club may call Rick Colton at (201) 445-0755 or visit theactivitiesclub.org. 5K registration in progress Local residents will hit the streets on Oct. 9 for the third Annual Hamilton School Community 5K and Family Fun Run. With 300 runners expected, this year will once again prove to be a great way to celebrate health and fitness with Hamilton families and the greater community. The day will include a sanctioned 5K Run, a 5K Walk, and a one-mile Fun Run with lots of games and activities for the whole family throughout the morning. Participants may register online by visiting http://hamiltonhsa.com/Hamilton5K. aspx. Pre-registration costs are $25 for the 5K, $15 for the 5K Walk, and $5 per participant for the Fun Run. Health and safety seminars set Master Gary Stevens is celebrating 35 years of teaching martial arts in New Jersey with free health and safety seminars during the months of July and August. These events are designed to empower the community with valuable information about self-defense, nutrition, body maintenance, and stress relief. The 45-minute sessions will be held on Tuesdays from 8 to 8:45 p.m. at the Gary Stevens Taekwondo School, located at 175 Rock Road. Basic self-defense strategies will be discussed on July 26. On Aug. 2, learn about the benefits of vitamin supplements and the advantages of chiropractic care. Learn to stay in top condition and avoid injury on Aug. 9. The final session, set for Aug. 16, will cover meditation and other methods of stress relief. Attendees are encouraged to wear comfortable clothes (sweats, shorts, T-shirts, etc.) to these sessions. Voter registration drive set A voter registration drive will be held on Saturday, Aug. 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Rock Road in Glen Rock. Assistance with voter registration and mail-in applications will be available. Forms available are: voter registration form (in English and Spanish), vote by mail application (in English and Spanish), party declaration form (in English and Spanish), and active uniformed service members and U.S. citizens living overseas -- voter registration/absentee ballot application (English only). Voters are encouraged to stop by and pick up mail-in applications. Oct. 18 is the registration deadline to vote in the general election on Nov. 8. The drive is sponsored by Howard Fox. Tree campaign under way The Glen Rock Tree Trust announced it is nearing its goal for the 11 Neighbors 11 Trees campaign, the group’s year long effort of the Glen Rock Tree Trust to raise funds
to plant 11 trees on public land throughout Glen Rock in memory of the 11 Glen Rock residents who died on Sept. 11, 2001. To date the trust has received donations or pledges of trees from Cub Scout Pack 1, the Hamilton School Home School Association, the Girl Scouts of Glen Rock, PSEG, The Environmental Club of Central School and several individuals. The Trust is looking for contributions from individuals of any size and is seeking donations from organizations that might want to underwrite the cost of a tree. The trees will planted in time for the tenth anniversary of 9-11. Each tree costs $200. Requests for more information may be sent to TheGlenRockTreeTrust@gma il.com or contributions marked for the 11 Neighbors 11 Tree campaign of the Glen Rock Tree Trust, may be dropped by borough hall, Harding Plaza. Exhibitors sought The Glen Rock Library is looking for interesting, antique, artistic, whimsical, beautiful, and/or unique collections. The exhibits, which change monthly, are kept in the library’s three display cases. Placards identify the exhibitors. Collectors

Group seeks new members The M.O.T.H.E.R.S. group of Saint Catharine’s parish welcomes new members. The group, which is open to working and stay-at-home moms with children of all ages, provides support, knowledge, and friendships while promoting a sense of community. Events for children, families, and couples take place throughout the school year, including programs for moms both with and without their children. Spiritual and social events include playgroups, book club, yoga, recipe groups, and spring socials. M.O.T.H.E.R.S. also is involved with charitable works in the community.
