Attendees are asked to bring a favorite dish large enough to serve six to eight people. The cost of admission is $8 for those who will not be contributing to the potluck. Seniors who wish to attend need not be members of the club. RSVP to Ida at (201) 796 6423. Expanded WiFi, scanning services available Glen Rock Public Library patrons may now enjoy expanded WiFi service at the library and free scanning capability. The library now has an improved WiFi signal, which should eliminate “dead zones.” The service signal now reaches to all four corners of the library’s main floor. The library recently installed a digital scanner. Patrons may now scan documents free of charge to one of the library’s public iMacs, then edit, save, e-mail, print, or share the digital copies. Printed copies are 10 cents per page for black and white, and 25 cents per page for color. Visit the library at 315 Rock Road, Glen Rock. Library offers reusable tote bags The Glen Rock Public Library is offering reusable library tote bags at the circulation desk for $2 each. Patrons can now protect borrowed items from snow and rain with reusable library totes. The library is joining the Green Up Glen Rock movement by making these bags available to patrons. The library has long been promoting recycling by allowing patrons to reuse books, recorded books, music, and videos. Some items have been borrowed more than 100 times. They are now expanding the green effort by allowing patrons to recycle by using library totes. The library will no longer supply plastic bags. Reusable totes will be the only option. Tote bag sales are self-supporting. The Glen Rock Library is located at 315 Rock Road. Group seeks new members The M.O.T.H.E.R.S. group of Saint Catharine’s parish welcomes new members. The administrator’s duties are now being performed by Borough Clerk Addie Hanna, who will hold both positions at an additional salary of $28,000, to be revisited after six months. The CFO and tax collector positions require state certification, which no other borough employee holds. According to Monahan, the new structure will save Midland Park between $65,000 and $75,000 per year since the salary costs will be less and the benefits package of one employee will be eliminated. He said this savings is particularly significant because the borough’s tax levy increase for 2011 needs to be no more the $130,000 as compared to 2010’s $164,000 increase. The council has put aside $10,000 to add to the salaries of the employees who will be assuming additional responsibilities, he said. Midland Park already shares a construction code official, John Wittekind, with Allendale and its court administrator, Allison Blau, with Waldwick. J.KOSTER

The agreement can be terminated by either party with sixty day’s written notice, but Midland Park may end the arrangement with only 60 days notice if it should have a substitute option for either position. Midland Park Councilman Patrick “Bud” O’Hagan said that a current borough employee has been working towards certification as a CFO and would be able to assume those duties once certified. “We can’t say enough about how good we feel about this and with the way Glen Rock as a true partner has worked with us so quickly to put a best-in-class agreement together,” commented Midland Park Mayor Joseph Monahan. “The exciting part for myself and council is that this agreement is flexible, fair to both parties, crystal clear on base costs and mechanism for advanced approval of any additional costs as well as includes a crucial provision for annual increases limited to whatever the prevailing tax cap levy limits are
