Ridgewood February 23, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 5 The Ridgewood Police Department has initiated patrols in marked and unmarked police cars after an incident in which a turbaned motorist offered a ride to a Ridgewood High School student at 7:05 a.m. on Feb. 9. The student was waiting for a bus at the corner of Bingham Road and East Brook Road when a turbaned man, described as being of Middle Eastern appearance, pulled up and offered the student a ride in a green van. The student refused the ride. As a second student approached the bus stop area, the man pulled away. The police are now patrolling all areas used as bus stops on the way to school and urge anyone with further information to contact the Ridgewood Detective Bureau at (201) 251-4537. Village police seeking turbaned motorist In other business, police arrested an 18-year-old with a large amount of alcohol in a parked vehicle on Feb. 11. Residents had reported disruptive and noisy teens and probable alcohol. The 18-year-old was charged with possession of a false identification and underage possession of alcohol. On Feb. 12 at 9:21 p.m., two intoxicated female minors were taken to Valley Hospital from a “sweet 16” party at the Ridgewood Woman’s Club on West Ridgewood Avenue. A resident on North Monroe Street reported that his front window was struck by a pellet from a pellet gun on Feb. 13. On Feb. 14, a patrol responded to a report of two Hispanic women shoplifting at Ann Taylor on East Ridgewood Avenue. The two women had fled when a loss prevention alarm was triggered by the store staff. The suspects escaped, but the merchandise was dropped and was recovered. J.
