Super Science Saturday, Ridgewood’s largest non-competitive academic event, will celebrate its 23rd year on Saturday, March 12, thanks to grants from two long-standing village institutions, Valley Hospital and the Ridgewood Education Foundation. Super Science Saturday, a village tradition, offers visitors of all ages the opportunity to explore science experiments from many professional and amateur scientists, college and university presenters, and hundreds of students. This year, Super Science Saturday is scheduled for Saturday, March 12, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Ridgewood High School, 627 East Ridgewood Avenue. Admission is free. Thanks to continuing support from the Valley Hospital and Ridgewood Education Foundation, this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever, with a full morning of exhibits, shows, and demonstrations. There will be fun and educational activities for everyone, including a show from Philadelphia’s famed Franklin Institute, the ever-popular model rocket launch and paper airplane contest on the football field, and plenty of hands-on learning activities. Valley Hospital is proud to be Ridgewood’s not-for-profit hospital serving the healthcare needs of more than 440,000 people in the region. As a not-for-profit hospital, Valley is committed to giving back to the community through joint educational opportunities with the Ridgewood Public Schools and through healthcare education and screenings, support groups, and classes to assist those in need. The Ridgewood Education Foundation’s mission is to enhance the quality of education in the Ridgewood Public Schools. Since 1989, the foundation has awarded more than $400,000 in grants for special projects created by forward thinking teachers, parents, students and alumni. A member-supported organization, the Ridgewood Education Foundation is an IRS 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation. For more information about Super Science Saturday, visit www.supersciencesaturday.org.
