(continued from Restaurant page) sinister motive (“To Serve Man”), and an Earth gone out of orbit (“The Midnight Sun”). Among the actors featured in the third season are Elizabeth Montgomery, Charles Bronson, Lee Marvin, Cloris Leachman, Jack Albertson, Gary Merrill, Leonard Nimoy, Jeannette Nolan, Andy Devine, Jack Klugman, Jonathan Winters, Peter Falk, Buster Keaton, Larry Blyden, and Theodore Bikel. Extras include 19 new audio commentaries, 19 radio dramas, isolated scores for all 37 episodes, clips of 1980s remakes of two episodes, and TV guest appearances of creator Rod Serling on “The Garry Moore Show,” “Tell It to Groucho,” and as host of the game show “Liar’s Club.” “Glorious 39” (E One Entertainment), set in England in the summer of 1939, is about Anne Keyes (Romola Garai), an attractive young woman who is enjoying modest success as a film actress. She is the adopted daughter of Alexander Keyes (Bill Nighy), a career politician and member of Parliament. Anne still lives in the family home with her father, mother Maud (Jenny Agutter), diplomat brother Ralph, and socialite sister Celia. One of Alexander’s friends stops by for dinner and, during a tempestuous conversation, expresses his disapproval of Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain and his efforts to appease Hitler’s Nazi regime. Anne begins to suspect a conspiracy is afoot when she finds a set of phonograph records that document conversations of men discussing state intelligence secrets. When Anne tries to share her discovery with others, they are soon found dead. The plot is fascinating and fresh. against Germany and who use every means from political influence to devious machinations to keep England out of war. This historical background blends nicely into a suspense thriller when bodies start piling up. The film contains excellent performances and crisp direction by Stephen Poliakoff, who helmed many dramas for the BBC. This release is available in both Blu-ray and DVD versions. There are no extras. “Skin” (E-One Entertainment) is the story of Sandra Laing (Sophie Okonedo), a black child born in the 1950s to white Afrikaners unaware of their black ancestry. Her parents, rural shopkeepers Abraham (Sam Neill) and Sannie (Alice Krige) who serve the local black community, lovingly raise her as their “white” little girl. Still, at the age of 10, facing prejudice from her community due to her dark skin and African features, Sandra is driven out of her society. The film follows Sandra’s 30-year odyssey from rejection to acceptance, betrayal to reconciliation, as she struggles to define her place in a changing world against countless obstacles. Okonedo plays Sandra, not as a symbol of black struggle in apartheid-era South Africa, but as a determined woman attempting to discover her true self. As a mature woman and mother, her Sandra still looks to heal psychological wounds inflicted on her as a child. South Africa’s Population Registration Act of 1950 required people to be identified, defined, classified, and separated by color, but in the area where Sandra grew up, folks were less intolerant. O’Neill’s Abraham is sympathetic as he attempts to have the law changed so Sandra can be classified by heritage rather than appearance, but also reveals himself to have deep-seated racism as he ultimately deals with Sandra’s predicament. Extras include a behind-the-scenesby G.M. Smith featurette, deleted scenes, outtakes, and script development workshops.
