Garden clubs hold joint meeting The Ho-Ho-Kus Garden Club will join the Allendale Garden Club on Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at Sunrise Senior Living, 5 Boroline Road in Saddle River. Mike Wilson, a horticultural and environmental expert from the Frelinghuysen Arboretum in Morristown will offer “The ABC’s of Rock Gardens.” For more information, call Debbie at (201) 445-9440. Employment workshop scheduled On Sunday, Feb. 27 at 1 p.m., Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church’s Career Resources Ministry will continue its effort to provide help to people seeking employment. This session will be the first of a four-part series of workshops and will be held in the meeting room in the lower church. The program is open to anyone seeking employment and those who anticipate possible unemployment. Parish membership is not required. Workshops are presented by the Career Resources Ministry, whose members are dedicated to helping people who are seeking employment. Professionals in the field will present the workshop and will be on hand to give advice. The Feb. 27 workshop topic is “Create Your Communications Strategy and Résumé.” Participants should bring a recent résumé or job experience information. Anyone inter-

Information on Asperger’s related services available On March 9 and April 6, The West Bergen Center for Children and Youth will offer an information session on the SOAR Experience, a therapeutic social skills program in a day camp-like environment for children and teens with Asperger’s and related disorders. An additional information session on the CIT (Counselor in Training) Program will follow on the same dates. The CIT Program is also for individuals on the spectrum. Learn about the fun-filled summer days at the SOAR Experience. food blogger and author of the cookbook, “Gluten-Free on a Shoestring,” will share her secrets to eating well without gluten, and without breaking the bank. Attendees will receive tips and inspiration they need to make eating gluten free enjoyable and affordable. Samples of gluten-free foods from several vendors will be available for tasting. Heart health program offered The Valley Hospital will hold a free education program, “Navigating Your Heart Rhythm,” on Tuesday, March 8 at 7 p.m. Attendees will learn about the Stereotaxis Magnetic Navigation system, the latest technology for treating cardiac arrhythmia. This new, less invasive procedure maps a pathway through blood vessels and heart to the diseased heart tissue, and the magnets lead a soft catheter gently along this pathway by guiding its magnetic tip. Fyke sets North Shore trip; has new meeting venue The Fyke Nature Association’s annual trip to the North Shore, from Bay Head to Long Branch, will be held on Feb. 19. Participants are encouraged to pack a lunch, binoculars, and scopes for this all-day trip to view wintering waterfowl. Layered clothing is recommended, as some time will be spent out of the cars. On Feb. 25, Judy Cinquina will present a virtual birding tour with poet Mary Oliver at Fyke’s 8 p.m. meeting.
