She sang and tap danced through her early years, and became an executive secretary and later a bridal consultant before retiring in 1985. She is survived by her husband James F. Benjamin, her children Bette-Kay Benjamin of New York City, and James A. Benjamin of Ramsey, two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Mary Lorraine Ferrare, nee Cronenberger, of Wilmington, Delaware, formerly of Ridgewood, died Jan. 21. She was 92. She was a graduate of Flower Fifth Avenue’s School of Nursing, and received her B.S. and M.A. from Teacher’s College, Columbia University. During WWII she served as a Navy nurse. Later, she was an instructor in the School of Practical Nursing in Binghamton, New York. She was employed at Bergen Pines County Hospital for 22 years, serving as assistant director of nursing, associate director of nursing, and interim director during the six months prior to her retirement. She is survived by her children Pamela Cerchio of Wilmington, Delaware and Michael Ferrare of Marlton, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Arthur M. Ferrare. Arrangements were made by C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Alma Steinen Jung of Ridgewood, formerly of Ramsey, died Jan. 19. She was 91. She was a 1941 graduate of Skidmore College. She is survived by her children Richard of Ellsworth, Maine, Robert of East Hampton, Connecticut, and Sally Beucler of Ridgewood, seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, two sisters, and a brother. He is survived by his wife Barbara (nee Van Der Wall), his daughter Cindy Tintle of Bend, Oregon, two grandchildren, Betty J. Mary Eileen Noonan of Cherry Valley, New York, formerly of River Edge, Mahwah, and Saint Augustine Beach, Florida, died Jan. 23. She was 93. Macagna Funeral Home in Cliffside Park. Dorothy Amend Rollenhagen of Ridgewood died Jan. 25. She was 95. She was graduated from Dwight School for Girls in Englewood and the Scudder School in New York City. She worked for seven years for the Englewood Bank and Trust Company. She is survived by her children Cynthia Osterweil, Nancy Engel, David Rollenhagen, and Norman Rollenhagen, four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and her sister Nancy Snyder. He was a U.S. Merchant Marine veteran of WWII. He was a graduate of Kings Point Merchant Marine Academy. He earned a degree in mechanical engineering, and was the plant manager for Domino Sugar in Brooklyn for 30 years. He was a 50-year member of Saint Bartholomew’s Church in Ho-Ho-Kus, where he served as a warden and was a choir member. He is survived by his wife Virginia (nee Pearson) of Allendale, his children Peter of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jeffrey of Dearborn, Michigan, and Courtney Taylor of Wyckoff, his daughter-in-law Merry Smith of Ho-Ho-Kus, and seven grandchildren. He had been a machinist, chief tester, and trouble shooter for Wright Aeronautical in Paterson and Woodridge. He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps, Quinn Bowling League of Lakehurst, the Navy League of the United States, the Fair Lawn Seniors, and the Holy Name Society of Saint Maximilian Kolbe of Toms River. He was a parishioner of Saint Anthony’s RC Church in Hawthorne, and a member of its Golden Horizon and Cornerstone groups. He was a volunteer at the Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff. He is survived by his children William Vreeland and Melinda Heyer of Park Ridge, eight grandchildren, and 15 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Concettina (nee Venezia) Vreeland. Young formerly of Ridgewood died Jan.19. He was 87. He was a U.S. Armed Air Force veteran of WWII. He was a graduate of Columbia University. He had a career in television broadcasting beginning in 1960, when he was the news director for NBC affiliate WNDU-TV in South Bend, Indiana. He reported for and anchored the WCBS nightly news broadcast, including coverage of President Kennedy’s assassination. At ABC News, he was one of the first correspondents dispatched to cover the Vietnam War, in 1965. He became the network’s chief European news correspondent, based in London. He was the anchor for the ABC World News broadcast, where he meet worldrenowned figures Dr. Martin L. King Jr., King Hussein of Jordan, Hubert H. Humphrey, and Bob Hope. His news career was completed in 1975. He is survived by his children Robert of Oradell, Michael of Coatesville, Pennsylvania, and Amy Brown of Mahwah, and six grandchildren.
