Legion sells Entertainment Books The American Legion is offering Entertainment Books for 2012. The cost of the book is $30 and may be delivered locally or picked up anytime. The books contain discount offers, two for one offers, and $60 in A&P, Pathmark, and Waldbaum’s coupons. Proceeds from the fundraiser benefit the Veterans Home in Paramus. Jaycees hold Annual Christmas Tree Sale The Glen Rock Jaycees will hold the organization’s 44th Annual Christmas Tree Sale next to Wilde Memorial Park. The sale will include trees, wreaths, and roping. The sale will be open weekends through Dec. 18 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The Glen Rock Jaycees, a registered New Jersey not-forprofit organization, has been actively involved in the Glen Rock community for decades. The Jaycees provide support to many organizations and charities in Glen Rock and the surrounding community and host many children’s events in Glen Rock throughout the year.

Mom and Tot program returns Registration for the Glen Rock Co-Op’s January “Mom and Tot” program is under way. Children participate in activities including free play, music, story time, arts and crafts, and snack. Children must be 20 months of age by Jan. 1, 2012. Saint Catharine Roman Catholic Church in Glen Rock invites the community to see the beautiful new Nativity set on Maple Avenue. The church also welcomes the public to its Christmas liturgies. On Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, Masses will be held at 4 p.m. (Family Liturgy), 6 p.m., 9:30 p.m. (Sacred Songs and Carols), and 10 p.m. (Midnight Mass). On Christmas Day, Dec. 25, Masses will be held at 8 a.m., 10 a.m., and noon (Children’s Choir).

Gussen to discuss wildlife in the garden Marc Gussen will present a discussion of suburban wildlife to the Glen Rock Garden Club on Tuesday, Dec 13 at 7:45 p.m. Gussen will discuss the biology of mammals, birds, and amphibians and how to protect a garden from these creatures. The meeting will be held in the Glen Rock Municipal Annex Building at 678 Maple Avenue, Glen Rock. All are welcome. Refreshments will be served. Nursery school registration now open Nursery school registration for incoming two-year-olds is now open at the Glen Rock Jewish Center. Registration for three- and four-year-olds will begin Jan. 2. The state licensed pre-school offers classes for children ages two through four and afternoon kindergarten enrichment, Toddler Time (formerly Mommy and Me), and Summer Day Camp. All teachers are certified and offer a wide range of age-appropriate activities with an emphasis on self expression, individuality, and creativity. Classes in yoga and music are part of the curriculum for all age groups, and three- and four-year-olds take at least two field trips a year. The school is open from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., offering half- and full-day programs, with before and after care available daily. Scheduling is flexible. Classes are filled on a first come, first served basis. Synagogue affiliation or any connection to Judaism is not necessary for participation in these programs. Performer is a hit!
Singer, songwriter and music historian Mark Levy entertained a full house at Glen Rock Jewish Center. Levy performed Jewish folksongs from across the world, including 15th century Spain, Russian Shetls, and the Lower East Side, singing in five languages including Ladino. He also lectured on ‘Songs of Peace, Protest, and Social Change’ and sang one of his own satiric songs. Pictured with Levy is GRJC Adult Education Chair Elaine Ziff Leibman.
