In the past few years, Pan has been working with the New Jersey Sierra Club Executive Committee (NJExComm). As the high school coordinator, she has focused on boosting student involvement within the club. “I use connections to branch out to other high schools in the area, especially with a project I have started, called Students Saving Energy www.studentssavingenergy. org),” Pan said. Students Saving Energy is a network of schools that work together to create more energy efficient communities. Pan launched this initiative when she entered high school and joined the environmental club. The award recognizes Sierra Club members under the age of 30 who have a demonstrated a record of strong and consistent service to the environment and the club and plan to continue such work in the future. Pan received the award at a celebration in San Francisco this fall. She plans to use the funds she received with the award to further develop the Students Saving Energy initiative.
