The Ridgewood High School Upper Level Latin academic team recently attended its first competition of the season at Montclair State University. The team enjoyed Dr. Ellen Bakalian’s lecture about Theseus’ portrayal in Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales and in other medieval works. Dr. Prudence Jones then presented an investigation of the ‘real’ Cleopatra. Afterward, the team competed with 17 regional schools in Latin grammar, Roman life and Greco-Roman mythology. Ridgewood took second place, with first place going to Ridge High School and third place to Delbarton. Pictured with their medals and gift book are Alison Graham, Akari Armatas, Francesca Felder, Elizabeth Mattson, Megan Felder, Zoe Blecher-Cohen, and Vidushi Sharma.
