He received an AB in history from Saint Peter’s College, an MBA from Rutgers University and a law degree from Seton Hall University. He served as senior vice president and general counsel for Bell Atlantic Capital Corporation where he worked for 16 years, and later he had a private law practice in Glen Rock. He is survived by his wife Melanie, his children Keara Kumler of Boston, Massachusetts, James W. Boyan III of Hoboken, Maura Boyan of Wyckoff, and Colin Boyan of Baltimore, Maryland, one granddaughter, his mother Maura K. Boyan of Sea Girt, and his siblings Marcy Boyan, Maureen Ward, William Boyan, Kathleen Keehn, Peter Boyan, Sean Boyan, Peg Fischer, and Deirdre Heine. He is predeceased by his father James W. Boyan high school from The American School of Paris in Saint Cloud, France and from Goucher College in Towson, Maryland. She was a store manager for the B. Witching Bath Company in Ridgewood. She is survived by her husband William (Bill) DiModugno, her children Emily, Darcy and Grace, all of Ridgewood, her father George William Lohr Jr. of Landrum, South Carolina, and her siblings George William Lohr III and Christina Lohr Ablon. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a commercial airline pilot for Continental Airlines for over 30 years and worked for Gentry Reality in Maywood. He was a member of the Maywood Rotary Club, and served as treasurer for two bowling leagues at Bowler City in Hackensack. He is survived by his wife Maria Antoinette (nee Sozio), his children Kelly Seeley, Katie Dix, Lou Emrick, Michelle Krafft, Erika Rowohlt, and Sal Orobello, seven grandchildren, and his siblings Joan Lynch and David Edmonds. Doctor Walter Jay Kent of Glen Rock died Nov. 30. He was 85. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He received a DDS degree from the University of Pennsylvania in 1948. He practiced dentistry in Paterson for six years, and moved to Wyckoff in 1955, where he practiced until 2011. In the 1970s, he was elected to the Glen Rock Board of Education, served as its president for two years, and was an officer of the New Jersey State School Boards Association. He was a member of the Wyckoff Lions Club, played clarinet and mandolin in the Glen Rock Pops Orchestra, and played mandolin with Justa Buncha Banjos. He taught English as a Second Language. He is survived by his wife Edith (nee Weisberg), his children James of Irvington, New York and Ellen Kent of Princeton, and one granddaughter Antonia Bess Cruz-Kent. She retired in 1993 from Ramapo College where she worked for more than 20 years. She was a member of the Mahwah Senior Citizens and was a member of the Mahwah Woman’s Club for over 40 years. She was a member of the Republican Club of Mahwah and served as a county committeewoman for 30 years. She is survived by her children Geraldine Venino of Sea Girt, Robert Royce of Mahwah, Carolyn Hopper of Hilton Head, South Carolina, and Pamela Roes of Princeton, eight grandchildren, and four greatgranddaughters. She was co-owner, along with her husband, of Orchard Properties, LLC. She was a member of the first graduating class of Ramsey High School. She is survived by her husband Anthony of Upper Saddle River, her daughters Joan Gundersen of Mahwah, Carole Grisafi of Woodcliff Lake, and Nancy Smith of Mahwah, three grandchildren, one great-granddaughter, and her sisters Ann Esposito of Saddle River and Victoria Gudger of Toms River. Mary Ann Shalhoub, nee Gissubel, of Mahwah, formerly of Sunrise, Florida, died Nov. 24. She was 86. She was a member of the Wilderness Trails and Canoe Club and a member of the Paramus Park Walkers Club. She was a member of an exotic plant and flowers club while living in Florida. She belonged to the Mahwah Senior Center and the choir at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Mahwah. She is survived by her children Jacqueline Shalhoub of Mahwah, Joanne Minard of North Carolina, Renee Shalhoub of Mahwah, and Raymond Shalhoub of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, seven grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.
