Gallery presents ‘Viva Brazil!’ Artist Harolto Boechat Victorino will exhibit “Viva Brazil” at the Stable Art Gallery during the month of September. Victorino’s oil paintings features the exquisite nature of the Amazon, including its beauty and wonder in the forest, the vastness of the desert-like sands, and river views so wide they appear to be seas on the thousands of miles of
coastline. Exuberance can also be found in the Mato Grosso Pantanai, an impressive wildlife sanctuary that is home to many species of fauna and flora. The artist’s best-known groups: “Amazon,” a dark representation of the mysteries of the jungle, and “Rainforest,” a more joyful view of the jungle’s beauty, were painted to commemorate the International Ecology Conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil in 1992. These collections beautifully represent the duality that runs through most of his work. An Artist’s Reception is slated for Friday, Sept. 9 from 7 to 9 p.m. All are welcome to attend. The Stable Gallery, located at 259 North Maple Avenue, Ridgewood, is open for viewing, weekdays 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment. Call (201) 670-5560.
