Page 10 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • August 17, 2011 Ridgewood Ryan Ardelle recently explained his proposed Eagle Scout community service project to the Ridgewood Village Council, and received the governing body’s wholehearted approval to proceed with his plans to refurbish the Diamond Brook Trail. The Boy Scout said his project would make it possible for guides to use the trail, which runs through Ridgewood near the Orchard School and the Glen Rock border, to teach children about the different types of trees in the area. He also said that the refurbishment of the existing walkway would enable pedestrians to use the trail, Eagle candidate to refurbish Diamond Brook Trail even in low light conditions, without tripping or getting lost. The Boy Scout said he intends to lead a team that will mulch the trail, install three park benches at the terminus, and install a refuse container to encourage recycling. The council members praised his intentions and his presentation and told him to go ahead. “It’s a great thing. It’s a great project, and we certainly appreciate you doing this for the village,” Deputy Mayor Thomas Riche told the poised, well-spoken young Boy Scout who spoke from the podium.
