Page 4 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • August 3, 2011 Ridgewood School board hires five new full-time teachers by John Koster The Ridgewood Board of Education has hired five new full-time teachers for the coming school year and expanded the hours of several other full-time teachers into routine extra class time with commensurate increases. Paige Blackoff has been hired as a temporary leave of absence replacement teacher for the George Washington Middle School at a salary of $57,530. She holds a NJDOE certificate of eligibility with advanced standing. Gilliam Diamond has been hired as a special education teacher at the George Washington Middle School at a salary of $58,530. She is awaiting state certification as an elementary school teacher and as a teacher of students with disabilities. Joo Yeon Han has been hired as an English teacher at the George Washington Middle School with standard certification at a salary of $57,530. Philip Nyhuis has been hired as a mathematics special education teacher at Ridgewood High School at a salary of $50,890. He is certified as a math teacher and is awaiting certification as a teacher of students with disabilities. Helen Palumbo has been hired as a temporary leave of absence replacement French teacher at Ridgewood High School effective Oct. 3 through the end of the next school year at a salary of $52,890. She has standard certification. Helen Patrosio has been hired as a part-time district music teacher at a salary of $11,105 based on a 20 percent school day. Leslie Pretat has been hired at a part-time French teacher for Ridgewood High School at a salary of $31,134 based on a 60 percent school day. Several teachers also received approval for position expansions and increases in salary. Ernestine Gagliano received an increase for extra hours, which raised her fulltime salary as a home economics teacher from $64,485 to a salary of $70,934. Susan Kameno received a raise from $105,230 for a full-time salary as an experienced physical education teacher to $126,216 for an expansion of her hours. Karen Mendez also received an expansion of her hours from full-time to routine overtime, and her salary as a business education teacher increased from $64,150 to $70,565 for the extra hours. Frank Giannantonio received an increase to a full-time position as a physical education teacher at Ridgewood High School, and his part-time salary of $30,144 increased to a full-time salary of $71,090. John Luckenbill received $8,221 as director of the Ridgewood High School Marching Band, which regularly takes top awards around the state. Simon Ira Jenkins received $3,523 as assistant director. Henry Heyzer and William Ebbels received $1,761 as brass instructors, Meredith Gnerre received $3,523 as color guard advisor, Ryah Mallen received $3,523 for drill design, Gary Fink received $3,523 as pit percussion instructor, Daniel Traglia received $3,653 as field percussion instructor, and Patricia Wojtowicz received $3,563 as twirler instructor. Ridgewood Sidewalk Sale Days will be held Aug. 4, 5, and 6. Shoppers will have many bargains to choose from in the village’s many business establishments. Restaurants, cafés, ice cream shops, and the movie theater will be open. Parking can be found at any of the shoppers’ parking lots located at Cottage Place, Walnut Street, Chestnut Street, Prospect Street, and Hudson Street for 25 cents an hour. Village holds Sidewalk Sale Days Meters hold a 12-hour capacity. As always, parking is free on Sundays and holidays, and daily after 6 p.m. For quick shopping and pickups, East Ridgewood Avenue offers parking for 50 cents an hour.
