Social Security office reduces hours Effective Aug. 15, the Social Security office located at 201 Rock Road in Glen Rock will be open to the public Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., a reduction of 30 minutes each weekday. While agency employees will continue to work their regular hours, this shorter public window will allow them to complete face-to-face service with the visiting public without incurring the cost of overtime. Most Social Security services do not require a visit to an office. Those who wish to apply for benefits, sign up for direct deposit, replace a Medicare card, obtain a proof of income letter, or give notice of a change of address or telephone number may do so at www.socialsecurity.gov or by calling the toll-free number, 1-800-772-1213. The hearing impaired may call the TTY number, 1-800-325-0778. Salvation Army seeks donations for camp The New Jersey Division of The Salvation Army is seeking donations for its special five-day respite session at Camp Tecumseh. This camp for veterans and their families will be held at the end of August. The Salvation Army and the Veterans Administration NJ Health Care System has collaborated for the past 17 years to provide this unique opportunity for veterans receiving
outpatient treatment from the East Orange and Lyons veterans’ facilities. Tecumseh, set on 400 rolling acres in scenic Hunterdon County, offers recreational amenities including a large lake for fishing and boating, an Olympic-sized pool, basketball and tennis courts, a softball field, a miniature golf range, and hiking trails. Sponsorship donations are needed now. Full sponsorship for a veteran is $150; sponsorship for a family of four is $600. All donations are appreciated. To sponsor a veteran, or for more information about this special camp session, contact Brenda A. Beavers at (908) 851-8211 or visit www.salvationarmynewjersey.org. Wyckoff Avenue, Wyckoff to close On Aug. 6, Wyckoff Avenue (between Greenwood and Fern avenues) in Wyckoff will be closed from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. to allow for the installation of the Safety-T-Grip road surface by Bergen County Department of Public Works. Northbound traffic on Wyckoff Avenue will be detoured onto Greenwood Avenue and left onto Godwin.
