Ridgewood April 27, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 9 Council echoes state honor for Tim Cronin by John Koster The Ridgewood Village Council has echoed a state honor for Tim Cronin, who recently received the Michael B. Berman Award for Administrative Excellence. The governing body issued a proclamation honoring Cronin for the role he has played in recreation, sports, and aesthetics in Ridgewood’s own backyard. “The village council...expresses its sincerest appreciation for Tim Cronin’s 30 years of dedicated service to the Village of Ridgewood, (and) joins the State and National Parks and Recreational Leadership in conferring the Administrative Excellence Award, and wishes Tim and his wife Mary the very best,” the council’s proclamation states. Cronin began his professional career with the Village of Ridgewood in 1981. He was promoted to superintendent of recreation in 1985 and subsequently promoted to the position of director of parks and recreation in 1993. He oversees Ridgewood’s parks, Gradyon Pool, and the non-school sports fields that are available to local and outside athletic groups for organized sports and active and passive recreation. He was one of the founding members of the Ridgewood Sports Council (presently the Fields Committee) and was credited as being instrumental in the creation of the Ridgewood Open Space Advisory Committee, the Recreational Open Space Inventory, and the 2009 Parks and Recreation Master Plan. He also launched the Ridgewood Roller Hockey League, which participates in the Northwest New Jersey Roller Hockey Association. Cronin has also been active in the National Recreation and Parks Association and in the New Jersey Recreation and Parks Association, which he served as president in 2003-04.
