McCarthy
(continued from page 5) nine years ago, he has repeatedly proven his commitment to the integrity of the music program, his supporters noted. Over the years, as a result of his administrative trust and support, the choral enrollment grew from 42 students to 325 students, who are now performing to standing room only audiences. During the past three years, McCarthy became even more of an advocate of music by making decisions that will have a positive effect on the performing arts for many years. When the community was faced with a need for school renovations that would ensure an upgraded science facility, McCarthy became a leader in highlighting the need to include a new music wing in the renovation proposal. While many administrators would feel they had accomplished the goal of receiving approval for this music wing, McCarthy stayed involved in each step of the new construction. He kept the needs of the music staff and students as the first priority in decision making. McCarthy has assured a tradition of a quality music program for Glen Rock High School.
