The documentary will be shown at 7:30 p.m. in the Indian Hills High School Auditorium, 97 Yawpo Road in Oakland. This film highlights the true monetary and environmental cost of bottled water and dispels some myths. The program is sponsored by The Wyckoff Area Garden Club along with the Environmental Clubs from Ramapo and Indian Hills high schools with assistance from the Wyckoff and Glen Rock environmental commissions. Dance Marathon benefit set The Phi Delta Epsilon Medical Fraternity and Zeta Beta Tau Fraternity at Ramapo College of New Jersey will host a Dance Marathon to benefit the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital’s local beneficiary, Children’s Specialized Hospital, which has nine sites in New Jersey. The event will be held Saturday, April 16 from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. at Friends Hall in the student center and will feature music, prizes, free food, games, and dancing. Special guest Ashleigh Udalovas, 2010 Miss New Jersey, will make an appearance, along with children who have been helped by the hospital. Children’s Specialized Hospital is the largest pediatric rehabilitation healthcare system in the United States. It is the preeminent provider of rehabilitation for children with special needs, serving children affected by brain injuries, spinal cord dysfunction and injuries, premature birth, autism, developmental delays, and life-changing illnesses. Registration is $10 online at http://ramapom.kintera. org or $20 at the door. Donations are welcome. Last year, students raised more than $10,000 with the help of friends, families, and sponsors. Beer & Wine Tasting fundraiser Mill Gardens Assisted Living, 36 Faner Road in Midland Park, will host a Beer & Wine Tasting to benefit the senior care charity services of the Visiting Homemaker Home Health Aide Service of Bergen County, Inc. This fundraiser will be held Saturday, April 9, from 3 to 6 p.m. and will feature beers and wines appropriately paired with hors d’oeuvres prepared by a Culinary Institute of America trained chef. Art supply donations sought The Longview Assisted Living Residence at the Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff is planning a centennial celebration with its Second Annual Art Exhibit in Septem- ber. Longview is seeking donations of art supplies including canvases, paint paper, foam boards, acrylic paints, watercolor paints, colored pencils, pastels, stamps/ink, airdry clay, and brushes. The event will showcase the residents’ artwork throughout the year. The elderly, especially those with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, often find that art therapy is a great tool for expression. Toastmasters now welcoming new members The members of Park Toastmasters invite Bergen County residents to the group’s Friday, April 8 meeting. The session will be held at 7:15 p.m. at the Panera Bread Restaurant, 1300 State Route 17 North in Ramsey. There is no charge to attend. Park Toastmasters is the local chapter of Toastmasters International, the world’s largest non-profit organization dedicated to helping people improve their communication and leadership skills. During meetings, members give short prepared and impromptu speeches in a relaxed, encouraging atmosphere. Group feedback helps members evaluate their progress. Quilting workshops offered The Brownstone Quilters Guild, Inc. will meet at both noon and 7:30 p.m. on Friday, April 8, at the Central Unitarian Church, 156 Forest Avenue in Paramus. Cynthia England, internationally known quilting instructor and quilt pattern designer, will be the featured speaker. “Why Did I Buy This Ugly Fabric?” will be presented at both sessions. England is noted for her picture pieced quilts. She has been recognized for her many special quilts. “Piece and Quiet” was chosen as one of the “Twentieth Century’s Best American Quilts” in 2000. She has won many prestigious awards at international quilt shows. There is a $5 guest fee for non-members. The guild has a few membership openings.
