Midland Park September 28, 2011 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • Page 3 June Chang, a Jersey City educator, was appointed last week as Midland Park High School’s new vice principal. He replaces Nick Capuano, who was promoted to principal last month following the retirement of Patricia Terraciano. Chang was the language arts/holocaust education supervisor for the Jersey City Chang named assistant principal at MPHS Public Schools for four years. He also taught English at New Milford High School and served also as the assistant to the principal during his tenure there. “Mr. Chang has experience in developing curriculum, professional development, teacher observation and evaluation, student discipline, and the creation of professional learning communities. His background in film studies has resulted in the creation of three documentaries,” commented Superintendent of Schools Dr. Marie Cirasella. In New Milford, Chang coached football, wrestling and track and served as the head middle school wrestling coach. Chang, who holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Rutgers University and a master’s in education administration and supervision from St. Peter’s College, will be paid $89,000 a year, prorated from Nov. 21, when he is expected to come on board. Michael Healy, Godwin School’s assistant principal and a former vice principal at the high school, has been temporarily transferred to the high school until Chang is in place. In addition to assisting the principal in duties related to instruction, supervision, evaluation and the overall administration of the school, the position entails purchasing, inventory and record keeping; safety inspections and safety drill practice activities; coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria and other support services; student attendance; and student conduct and enforcing discipline policies. The Warrior Cheerleaders, who cheerlead for the Waldwick High School Football Team in Waldwick, includes students from Waldwick and Midland Park. Due to budgetary cuts last year, Midland Park cut the cheerleading program and Waldwick cheered alone. Due to the efforts of parents and Mrs. Elizabeth Cericola, the head cheerleading coach in Waldwick, the Midland Park girls were once again included and the team is at full force this season.
