Mickey Mantle will be topic of lecture Dr. James P. Kane will present “The Mick: An American Hero” Monday, Sept. 26 at the Franklin Lakes Public Library. The program will feature the life story of Mickey Mantle, one of America’s sports greats, including the poignant years after his playing days ended. The program is open to the public. The library is located at 470 DeKorte Drive. Board of education to meet The Franklin Lakes Board of Education will meet Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. The meeting will be held in the music room at Franklin Lakes Middle School located at 755 Franklin Avenue. Learn to draw Franklin Lakes Public Library, located at 470 DeKorte Drive, will host a two-hour pen and ink drawing session with New Jersey artist Doris Schwint on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. Schwint will help participants develop their own drawings as they learn valuable pen and ink techniques. Center registration open Registration is now under way for the Franklin Lakes Public Library’s P.I.N.T. Center. This program is for children who are newborns through two-and-a-half years of age. P.I.N.T. Center offers a language-enrichment program, in which simple stories, songs, rhymes, and finger plays are presented. Each 45-minute session begins with an informal play period, followed by a more formal presentation. The program will meet on Mondays from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m. or from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. Session one will meet Oct. 3, 10, 17, and 24; session two will meet Nov. 7, 14, and 21.
