Reverend Dan Murphy will share reflections on his struggle, his faith, and how he continues to bring life from death after the loss of his brother on 9/11. Support offered to the newly single This fall, the Church of the Presentation will offer two support programs for adults dealing with the emotional upheaval of being newly single. Healing Hearts, an eight-week program, will begin Monday, Sept. 26. This program is open to anyone experiencing the transition of separation, divorce, or the end of a relationship. The group will discuss grief, anger, loneliness, anxiety, fear, guilt, self esteem, and pathways to growth. Sessions will meet from 7:30 to 9 p.m. The Single World, which will meet on Thursdays beginning Sept. 15, will offer assistance in re-entering the single world with dignity and grace after a separation, divorce, death, or loss of a relationship. Topics for discussion include forming new relationships, finances, spiritual growth, dating, goals, and priorities. Small business networking event set The Ridgewood Chamber of Commerce will host an evening of networking on Wednesday, Sept. 14 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Blend located at 17 Chestnut Street. The Honorable Senator Gerald Cardinale will be on hand to answer questions on the Sole Proprietorship Health Insurance Bill #S-2874. Tom Bracken, president of the New Jersey State Chamber of Commerce, will discuss new developments for New Jersey’s small businesses. Club welcomes new members The Woman’s Club of Ridgewood invites area women within a 19-mile radius of Ridgewood to a fall membership coffee on Friday, Sept. 16. This event will be held at the clubhouse at 215 West Ridgewood Avenue in Ridgewood. Hours will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. or from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Light fare and beverages will be served. Attendees will learn about the club’s mission and planned events. The Woman’s Club is a 501c3 organization for women who are at least 18 years of age. The club hosts monthly luncheons/socials, sponsors Meals on Wheels, raises money for local charities, hosts the annual House Tour and Children’s Theater, and sponsors Social Service families’ holiday wish lists and much, much more. Craft and Street Fair set The Ridgewood Fall Craft and Art Street Fair will be held on Sunday, Sept. 18, from noon to 5 p.m. along East Ridgewood Avenue, Ridgewood. The fair, sponsored by the Ridgewood Parks and Recreation Department and promoted by P.J.’s Promotions, will be held rain or shine. Approximately 140 quality exhibitors from six states will be featured at the fair. Booths will be filled with a large selection of fine photography, art, and handcrafted items. Just some of the items highlighting the fair will be mosaics, stained glass, pottery, jewelry, tutu’s, fairy wings, doll clothing, knitwear, ceramics, and more.There will be music all day and a large children’s area with a petting zoo, pony rides, and “inflatables.” A food court with festival foods of all kinds will be set up in front of the park. Special needs soccer available The Upper Saddle River Soccer Association and the Upper Saddle River Recreation Commission will sponsor a structured, small group soccer clinic for children in kindergarten through grade six who have special needs. The free clinics are not only open to Upper Saddle River residents, but to residents living in the surrounding community. Clinics will be held on Saturdays for 45 minutes beginning Sept. 17 at a time to be determined. Players will warm up, run drills, and scrimmage with each other. Built-in breaks and other accommodations will be made. Each participant will require a parent shadow for all clinics. All players will receive a T-shirt. Have you filled out a “requester” form yet?
