The Wyckoff Police Department arrested two women for prescription fraud and narcotics possession and sent them to Bergen County Jail with bail set at $25,000 for each of them. A pharmacist at CVS Pharmacy on Franklin Avenue reported to police that a woman had attempted to obtain prescription pain narcotics with a fraudulent prescription and said she would be returning later in the day to pick up the prescriptions. A surveillance team was set up, and when the woman returned with a friend, they were both arrested. A 27-year-old Paterson woman was charged with four

counts of theft for being in possession of stolen prescription drugs from different physicians, with possession of prescription drugs not legally issued to her, and obtaining prescription drugs by fraud and forgery. A 43-year-old Paterson woman was charged with possession of prescription drugs in an unmarked container, possession of prescription drugs belonging to another person, and possession of prescription drugs not obtained legally. Both women were lodged in Bergen County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail each. The surveillance team included Sergeant Daniel Kellogg, Patrolman Mark Tagliareni, Patrolman Michael De Maio, and Patrolman Ryan Tenney. The arrests were reported on Aug. 25. On Aug. 18, an illegal turn led to the unrelated arrest of five individuals on theft and narcotics charges. At 10:53
Free CPR training available
Christian Health Care Center in Wyckoff is offering a free American Heart Association CPR Anytime program from 7 to 9 p.m. Sept. 19, in the CHCC auditorium. Participants should use the 700 Mountain Avenue entrance. This course will cover the basics of CPR for adults, children, and infants. The course teaches the core skills of CPR, but it is not a certifying or credentialing course. It is intended to help participants to feel confident in an emergency situation where CPR is needed. Participants will take home a practice mannequin, a DVD, and a certificate of completion. Light refreshments will be served. Class size is limited to 35 participants, and pre-registration is required. The deadline to register is Sept. 9; call (201) 848-5229 or e-mail epeneno@chccnj.org. CHCC is able to offer this program to the community at no charge thanks to a grant from the George A. Ohl Jr. Foundation. p.m., Sergeant Michael Ragucci stopped a vehicle that made an improper turn at the intersection of Russell Avenue and Wyckoff Avenue. The police searched the car and found 23 cans of baby formula stolen from a supermarket in Teaneck. The four teenaged occupants of the car, who came from Lodi, were charged with possession of stolen property and possession of marijuana and narcotics paraphernalia. A 31year-old man in the car with the four boys was charged with possession of stolen property, but not with marijuana possession or drug paraphernalia. Police reported the theft of a GPS from a parked car on Carriage Lane on Aug. 11 and a burglary on Aug. 21 in which the burglar removed an air conditioner from a house on Richard Place and stole jewelry and a computer.
