Dear Readers: With the advent of cool evenings, beautiful breezy days, and the kids returning to school, summer is indeed coming to a close. In our society there, seem to be two new years. One is at the beginning of January and the other at the beginning of September. As children, we always thought of the new school year as the beginning and June as the end of the year. That concept often continues throughout our lives. September always seems to bring new hope and vitality within us as we go about our daily lives. This feeling of the new year comes with the sad anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, a day we will certainly never forget. I also can’t help but think that watching the suffering of so many due to Hurricane Irene made us take stock of our lives and how truly fortunate we are. Around the township, residents will see numerous projects including road paving, repairs, and the narrowing of parts of Main Street. All of these improvements will continue to make our township a great place to live and shop. As in all towns, most of this work will be happening in the fall. Having been in several discussions and meetings with township officials who are watching the process take place, I know their dedica-
tion and professionalism ensures as many limited closures and detours as possible. For this they deserve a world of credit. As the president of the Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce, I am pleased to see our organization continuing to grow. We have over 100 active members. While other towns in our area are struggling keeping organizations alive, we are doing quite well. In the near future, we will host a speaker who will discuss memory issues and a general meeting at Abma’s Farm, where participants will get further acquainted with their programs to get fresh, locally grown produce to children, which is becoming a big issue in many school districts. All of our active members are listed on our website at wyckoffchamber.com. We encourage everybody to go there and support both the retail establishments and professionals who, through their time and financial support, help make Wyckoff the great town it is. If you have any ideas on how the Chamber can continue to improve life in Wyckoff, please share them with a Chamber member. Ideas are always welcome. Thank you for your ongoing support. Jay Vidockler, President Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce
