Page 8 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • October 26, 2011 Wyckoff Woman fights off would-be rapist in parking lot by John Koster Wyckoff police are searching for the six-foot tall white male who assaulted and attempted to rape a 42-year-old woman in the parking lot of the Brick House Restaurant on Godwin Avenue on the night of Oct. 18. The woman reported that she left the restaurant at about 11:30 p.m. and began to walk to her home, which is nearby. She reported that while she was in the restaurant parking lot she was grabbed from behind by a white male, age unknown, about six feet tall with a blue shirt and blue jeans. The man seized her by the hair and threw her to the ground, and her head struck the pavement. The man then attempted to pull off her pants. She struggled free and kicked the man in the groin. The woman ran from the parking lot to a nearby home where she sought shelter. She sustained injuries to her hand and face, but did not require medical attention. Wyckoff Police Chief Benjamin Fox cautions residents to be aware of their surroundings, especially in the dark, and to contact the police department if they observe any suspicious persons in their neighborhoods. The incident is under continued investigation by the Wyckoff Detective Bureau. The initial investigation was by Detective Sergeant Joseph Soto and Patrolman Michael DeMaio. Anyone with information about the attack, or anyone who saw a man answer- ing the description of the assailant in the vicinity of the Brick House Restaurant on the night of Tuesday, Oct. 18 between 11 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. is asked to contact the Wyckoff Police Department at (201) 8912121.
