Blake Robinson to discuss ethical investment Blake Robinson of Fulcrum Securities will present “Ethical Investing: Oxymoron or Moral Imperative?” on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. at the Franklin Lakes Public Library. Recent Wall Street scandals have left many wondering whether ethical investing is an oxymoron at worst, or a utopian dream at best. In this presentation, Robinson will focus on the key moral principles that make an investment ethical and the growth in socially responsible funds. Other topics of discussion will include whether efforts towards corporate responsibility are sincere, and if there are important issues that corporate America is still overlooking. This program is appropriate for both novice and experienced investors and is designed to get attendees thinking about the impact of how they invest their money. Seniors plan tour of Newark The Franklin Lakes Seniors will tour Newark on Wednesday, Nov. 9. The group will take a two-hour guided driving tour to view historic public buildings, churches, cultural institutions, architecture, and magnificent public art. The trip will include a family-style Sparky talks fire safety luncheon at the Spanish Tavern and a 60minute guided highlight tour of the Newark Museum. Flu and pneumonia vaccines available The Valley Hospital Department of Community Health and the Franklin Lakes Board of Health will offer flu and pneumonia vaccines to Franklin Lakes residents who are age 65 and older. Those with an HMO may choose to go to their primary care provider or choose to pay $27 for a flu vaccination. Pneumonia vaccines will be available for those who have never had a previous pneumonia vaccination. The cost is $35. Flu shots are encouraged for those who are age 65 and over and those with chronic illnesses.
