Religious Notes Joan Grace Hartmann Marion Donnelly Robert E. Leddy The Holy Rosary will be recited in a public square in the area for the first time on Saturday, Oct. 15 in Waldwick. The noon ceremony, which will be dedicated to world peace, will take place in front of the public safety building on Prospect Street. Waldwick Mayor Russell “Buddy” Litchult will give the welcoming address. The public is invited. Vincent Gallagher, a parishioner of the Church of the Nativity in Midland Park who is organizing the “Rosary Rally,” said that about 7,000 such rallies take place throughout the world and coincide with the sixth and last apparition of the Virgin Mary to three shepherd children in Fatima, Portugal on Oct. 13, 1917. “In her apparition, the Blessed Mother requested the daily recitation of the Rosary that there would be peace in the world, not war,” said Gallagher. The Waldwick resident has been organizing World Day of Prayer gatherings in Waldwick for several years and is an active member of the Legion of Mary. He is also chairman of the area’s Right to Life movement. Outdoor rosary rally scheduled Leaf collections (continued from page 13) and efficient work cleaning up after Hurricane Irene, which knocked out power to a number of neighborhoods. The annual leaf cleanup is said to be one of the biggest in Bergen County because Wyckoff is so heavily foliated and the township mainly consists of residential properties. Township officials have estimated that the amount of leaves pick up in Wyckoff in any given year would fill a major football stadium to a depth of eight to 10 feet. Cooperation by residents is said to be especially important in handling the cleanup because Wyckoff reportedly has the lowest ratio of employees to residents of any municipality in Bergen County. J.
