Y announces holiday performances The Wyckoff Y Theater Arts Company will present “Miracle on 34th Street” and “Wyckoffeller Center,” a song and dance celebration of the holiday season. “Miracle on 34th Street” will be staged Dec. 8 and 9 at 7:30 p.m., Dec. 10 at 2 and 7:30 p.m., and Dec. 11 at 1 and 5:30 p.m. Written by Meredith Wilson (“The Music Man”), the show features a rousing score, rollicking choreography, and an inspirational story in which Santa Claus is taken to court to prove his identity. Tickets sold in advance will be $25 for adults, $15 for seniors, and $10 for children. The day of the show, ticket prices will increase by $5 each. “Wyckoffeller Center” will be presented on Dec. 1 and 2 at 7 p.m. Directed by Tim Santos, formerly associated with Radio City as a choreographer, the show include holiday songs, “The Nutcracker,” and a visit from Saint Nick. Tickets sold in advance will be $10 for children and seniors, and $15 for adults. The day of the show, ticket prices will increase by $5 each. For ticket information call (201) 891-2081. Toys for Tots Drive under way The Wyckoff Volunteer Fire Department and the Wyckoff Lions Club have announced that the Toys for Tots train will stop in Wyckoff on Dec. 10. Members of the Marine Corps and Santa Claus will stop in town to collect gifts for the U.S. Marine Corps Toys for Tots Foundation. The mission of the foundation is to collect new, unwrapped toys distribute those toys as gifts to needy children. Wyckoff residents are encouraged to drop off new, unwrapped toys at Protection Fire Company 1, 1 Scott Plaza; Community Engine Company 2, 180 Wyckoff Avenue; and Sicomac Engine Company 3, 428 Sicomac Avenue, on Monday nights from 7:15 to 9:15 p.m. through Dec 5. Toys may also be dropped off at the Lions Club Tree Sale on Franklin Avenue at the Getty Gas Station parking lot across from Boulder Run through Friday, Dec. 9. All gifts collected will be brought to the Main Street Station for pickup on Dec. 10 between 11:45 a.m. and 12:45 p.m. For details, visit www.wyckofffire.com. Christmas Concert coming to Grace Methodist Grace Methodist Church will hold its annual Christmas Candlelight Concert on Sunday, Dec 11 at 4 p.m. in the church sanctuary. Under the direction of organist and Director of Music Alan Newman, the five combined choirs will perform the music of the season. The concert will feature harpist Mary Elizabeth Young, guest soloists mezzo-soprano Laura Van Orden, baritone Steven Gant, and soprano Lori Vanderaa. The harp prelude will begin at 3:45 p.m. and will be followed by the choir processional at 4 p.m. The event will include congregational singing accompanied by both the harp and the 1880 Roosevelt pipe organ. Refreshments will follow in fellowship hall and a free will offering will be taken. The concert is open to the public. The church has scheduled three Christmas Eve services at 3, 5, and 9 p.m. On Christmas Day, there will be a service at 11 a.m. Regular Sunday services are held at 9 and 11 a.m. Sunday School is offered to adults and children. An adult Bible class is held at 10:15 a.m. on Sundays in the parlor. Grace Methodist is located at 555 Russell Avenue. For more information, call (201) 891-4595. ‘Santa Comes to Wyckoff’ coming up The Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce’s Santa Comes to Wyckoff and Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony will be held Friday, Dec. 2. (Rain date: Dec. 5.) The community is invited to share the magic of the tree lighting, visit with Santa, and enjoy refreshments and holiday music. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive by fire truck to meet and greet children and their families at the following locations: Cedar Hill Plaza, 4 p.m.; Wyckoff Shopping Center, 5 p.m.; Main Street, 5:45 p.m.; Mayflower Shopping Center, 6 p.m.; Wyckoff Square Shopping Center, 6:45 p.m.; Boulder Run Shopping Center, 7 p.m.; and Wyckoff Town Hall for the tree lighting at 7:45 p.m. Please note: Santa will not be getting off the truck at Main Street or Wyckoff Square Shopping Center stops. Don Bosco Prep recently held a special signing event in honor of National Signing Day for the 10 students who received and signed letters of intent from colleges and universities. Matthew Dacey has committed to attend the University of Michigan in the fall. At Don Bosco Prep, Dacey is a member of the National Honor Society, Math Honor Society, and the National Spanish Honor Society. In addition, he is a math tutor and a Big Brother.
