Ruth Del Calzo, nee Schroeder, of Ho-Ho-Kus, formerly of Hasbrouck Heights, died Nov. 7. She was 83. She was a graduate of Hasbrouck Heights High School. Before retiring, she was a human resources representative for Becton-Dickinson in East Rutherford for 35 years and was a past-president of the Becton-Dickinson Alumni Association. She is survived by her brothers and sisters-in-law Michael and Adrianna Del Calzo of Glen Rock, Nicholas Del Calzo of Denver, Colorado, Sandra and Bernard Mortellaro of Coplay, Pennsylvania, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband George Del Calzo, her parents Frederick and Erna Schroeder, her sister Dorothy Duerbeck, and her brothers-in-law John Delcalzo and Louis Del Calzo. Arrangements were made by Costa Memorial Home in Hasbrouck Heights. Cynthia Clark Edson of Wyckoff died Nov. 6. She was 64. She was a homemaker. She is survived by her husband Martin James Edson Sr. of Wyckoff, her children Martin James Jr. of Morristown, Erin Edson of Wyckoff, and Michael of North Haledon, four grandchildren, and her sister Dianne Stevenson of Easton, Maryland. Gordon of Ridgewood died Nov. 6. He was 76. He spent his youth in Ireland and returned to the United States in his early teens. During the 1950s he worked for the Paterson News. He later became district manager for the Bergen Record in the 1960s and early 1970s, while obtaining his associate degree. He was district manager for the Herald News until his retirement in the late 1970s. He was an assistant golf professional at the North Jersey Country Club in Wayne, and was named an honorary member of the Rotary Club of Paterson Great Falls. He is survived by his daughters Michele Gordon Leishman and Lisa Gordon Lota, both of Midland Park, and three grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Ronald Anthony Gordon. Barbara Hancock-Irwin of Cape Coral, Florida, formerly of Ramsey, died Oct. 21. She was owner and operator of the Ramsey School of Dog Training. Prior to moving to Florida, she was the manager of Noritsu Corporation in Ramsey. She was the owner/operator of Chocolates Galore in Woodcliff Lake. She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ridgewood, the Eastern Star, and the Confectioner’s Association. She is survived by her children Karen Meima and Kristen Miller, both of Midland Park, six grandchildren, and her brother John Finck of Colorado. Suzanne Russ Handley of Mahwah, formerly of Ridgewood, died Nov. 5. She was 82. She was a graduate of Ridgewood High School and Douglass College and was active in alumni affairs. She was a member of the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood and founder of Citizens for Swimming. She was a volunteer at CAMP, an after-school learning program in Paterson. She was a Master Gardener. She is survived by her children Anthony, Kathleen, and Nicholas, and granddaughter Samantha. She was predeceased by her husband John M. Handley, her sons Russell and Kurt, and granddaughter Brandie. She received her bachelor’s degree at the College of Saint Rose in Albany, New York, and received her master’s degree at Saint John’s University in Queens, New York. She taught in Babylon, New York. After raising her children, she was a substitute teacher for the Mahwah Public Schools. She was a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church. She is survived by her husband Walter P. Hollinger, her children Ellen Langford of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Dr. Walter A. Hollinger of West Greenwich, Rhode Island, Catherine Hollinger of Pottersville, John C. Hollinger of Alpharetta, Georgia, and Marie Short of West Orange, eight grandchildren, and her siblings Fred W. Kaelin Jr. and Barbara O’Neill. She was predeceased by her daughter Susan. She was 81. She attended Felician College in Lodi. She was a member of the Grace Bible Church in North Haledon and a former member of the Second Reformed Church in Wyckoff. She was a volunteer piano player at the Christian Health Care Center for 30 years. She is survived by her husband Frederick E. Schwaner Jr., her sons Frederick E. Schwaner III of West Milford and David Schwaner of Okemos, Michigan, and seven grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother Martin Shields. She is survived by her children Mark Vander Weit and Elsie Vander Weit, both of Midland Park, eight grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, and her sisters Tina Nicolai, Anneke Broersma, and Griet Dykstra. She was predeceased by her husband Richard “Durk” Vander Weit, her daughter Antje Brand, and her brothers Frank Nicolai, Louis Nicolai, and Wil Kremer. Daniel Max Zolotorofe of Mahwah died Nov. 3. He was 20. He served as Mahwah High School Student Body President in 2009. He is a junior at the University of Maryland and a brother in TKE fraternity. He is survived by his parents David and Jill Zolotorofe, his sisters Jessica and Allison Zolotorofe, his grandparents Lewis and Nannette Zolotorofe and Edward and Gail Goldman, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
