Page 12 THE VILLADOM TIMES I • November 16, 2011 Dear Readers: Every November, the clocks go back, it gets dark early, Thanksgiving arrives, and everyone knows that New Year’s is right around the corner. This is the busiest time of year for most of us and we all take stock of where we have been, what we have accomplished, and what lies ahead of us. For retailers across the nation, it is typically the time of year that makes or breaks a business. Each year, the American public has more choices as to how to spend and what to buy. The presence of technology in every facet of the supply chain means that purchasing items either online or in stores can be done simply – even when the products are made on the other side of the world. With technology changing faster all the time, it is a challenge for every business to keep alert and stay ahead of the curve. We are very fortunate in Wyckoff to have a strong, vital business community. Obviously, the residents and readers of this paper are a major part of that. The businesses in town are in a partnership with the residents and support the many nonprofit charitable events that go on throughout the many schools, houses of worship, and civic organizations. When shoppers do their holiday shopping right here in Wyckoff instead of going down the highway or spending it online, they help keep Wyckoff the great town that it is. Unfortunately, the late October snowstorm that brought us the first white Halloween of our lifetimes canceled the Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce’s annual Safe Trick or Treat program. Next month, the Chamber will be bringing Santa and Mrs. Claus to town with the annual Holiday Lighting ceremony. The Chamber is presently planning an ambitious program that will allow our website to be interactive. Residents will be able to access information and exclusive discounts offered by local merchants. Watch for details next year! Wishing everyone a safe and prosperous holiday season, Jay Vidockler, President Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce
