Multi-chamber event set The Wyckoff, Franklin Lakes, Allendale, Ho-Ho-Kus, and Waldwick chambers of commerce will hold a multichamber business card exchange on Monday, Nov. 14 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Blue Moon Café, 327 Franklin Avenue in Wyckoff. Advance registration is $20, and includes the Blue Moon Taco Bar. A cash bar will be open during the event. Please note that the fee will be $25 at the door. The featured speaker will be Tom Murphy from Green Lion Digital. He will present “Data Driven Internet Marketing.” Reservations are recommended and may be made via e-mail at kimpost@optonline.net or by calling (201) 6936734. Space is limited. Checks may be dropped off at the Waldwick Chamber of Commerce Office at Kallman Travel, 20 Harrison Avenue in Waldwick. Register for Reindeer Run The Academy of the Most Blessed Sacrament in Franklin Lakes will hold its Tenth Annual Reindeer Run on Saturday, Dec 3. The 5K race course and one-mile Family Fun Run will start in front of the school at 785 Franklin Lake Road. The course is USAT&F certified. It is also a New Jersey Grand Prix 500 Point Event.
The 5K race will start at 9:30 a.m. and the Family Fun Run will begin at 10:30 a.m. In-person registration will be Dec 2 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. and at 8 a.m. on Dec 3. Pre-registration may be completed at www.active.com. Awards will be presented to the top three overall male and female participants and in each five-year age group. Senator to discuss Fair School Funding State Senator Michael Dougherty (R-Warren) will address the Ridgewood/Glen Rock Tea Party on Monday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. at the Stable, 259 North Maple Avenue in Ridgewood. Senator Dougherty will discuss the Fair School Funding Bill. The meeting is open to the public. Winter Bereavement Group offered The parishes of Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Ridgewood, Saint Gabriel’s in Saddle River, and Saint Catharine’s in Glen Rock are jointly sponsoring a Winter Bereavement Support Group on Tuesdays from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. The program will be held at Our Lady of Mount Carmel, One Passaic Street in Ridgewood, from Jan. 10 through March 6, 2012. The meetings will offer support for those going through the grief process. The group stresses confidentiality and

Recycling event planned Bergen County Utilities Authority will sponsor a free recycling event that will include a collection of electronics and tires, and the shredding of documents. This event will be held Nov. 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bergen County’s Campgaw Mountain Reservation at 200 Campgaw Road in Mahwah. The collection will be held rain or shine. Learn about the president of Ireland Henry McNally, Irish historian and educator, will be guest speaker at the Nov. 9 meeting of the Irish American Unity Conference, Chapter 5th and 9th CD. The session will be held at 7:30 p.m. at Christ Church, 105 Cottage Place in Ridgewood. McNally will give a brief history of the president of Ireland. All are welcome. The IAUC is a human rights organization working for peace with justice in a reunited Ireland. Guild hosts Quilt Show The Brownstone Quilters Guild will hold a judged Quilt Show at the Northern Highlands Regional High School at 298 Hillside Avenue in Allendale on Friday, Nov. 11 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The theme of this year’s show is a “Celebration of Quilts 2011.” Admission to the show is an $8 donation per day. Over 150 quilts will be on display and a quilt made by the members of the guild will be a special prize in a fundraiser to benefit the Center for Food Action. The show will also feature 17 vendors who will be offering a wide variety of fabrics and other items related to the art of quilting. Prizes of over 100 handmade mini-quilts will be awarded twice daily. (continued on page 24)
