Breakfast with the mayor set The Franklin Lakes Chamber of Commerce invites the public to meet Mayor Frank Bivona on May 18 from 8 to 9 a.m. at Franklin Lakes Borough Hall, 480 DeKorte Drive. Learn about free computer sites The Franklin Lakes Public Library, located at 470 DeKorte Drive, will offer “Fun Sites on the Internet” on Wednesday, May 18 from 11 a.m. to noon. Participants will learn about sites that provide free alternatives to pay software, sites to protect and maintain their computers, and sites to promote lifelong learning. Participants must be able to navigate online and have intermediate computer skills to make full use of this class. Registration has begun and may be completed at the adult reference desk. Temple celebrates Israel’s anniversary Temple Emanuel will celebrate the 63rd Anniversary of Israel’s independence on May 15. Plans call for a kosher hot dog and hamburger barbecue and Israeli dancing. This event will be held at 12:30 p.m. at Temple Emanuel of North Jersey, 558 High Mountain Road in Franklin Lakes. Instructor Michal Richardson, a veteran with the Israeli dance troupe Shalhevet, will teach a range of easy-to-learn dances to children and adults. The dance program, underwritten by the Israel Programs Center of UJA Federation of Northern New Jersey, will be followed by a 3 p.m. showing of episodes from the 1950s hit TV series “The Goldbergs.” Both programs are free and open to the public. Turchin exhibits watercolors Artist Tatiana Turchin will exhibit her watercolors at The Gallery of The Presbyterian Church at Franklin Lakes during the month of May. Turchin, a member of “Les Belles Artistes,” has had her work displayed in local libraries, and at The Ridgewood Art Institute, Ringwood Manor Association, and The Stable in Ridgewood. Brisco to discuss ‘Metamorphoses’ Dr. Margaret Brisco will discuss her book “Metamorphoses” at the Franklin Lakes Library, 470 DeKorte Drive, on Thursday, May 19 at 7 p.m. Dr. Brisco practiced obstetrics and gynecology for 35 years and was a pioneer in the field of medicine. Rape Crisis Center offers program Teens and parents are invited to the YWCA of Bergen County Rape Crisis Center’s program on sexual consent, abuse, and rights. The program will be held May 17 at 7 p.m. at the Franklin Lakes Public Library, 470 DeKorte Drive. The center will offer a discussion about “sexting,” the law, assault, and more. Landon to perform concert Pianist Louis Landon will perform “The Gershwins, Cole Porter & Me” at the Franklin Lakes Public Library, 470 DeKorte Drive, on May 15 at 2 p.m. The program will include popular Gershwin and Porter pieces and solo piano instrumentals from Landon’s personal repertoire.

Improve your relationships Cheryl Worzala-Grogin, LCSW, will present “Learn How to Use the Leverage You Already Have in Your Relationships to Be Happy” on Wednesday, May 11 at 7 p.m. at the Franklin Lakes Public Library, 470 DeKorte Drive. The outing will feature music, dancing, entertainment, lunch, beverages, and an afternoon snack. The cost for the day is $41 for members and $46 for non-members.
