The Knights will recognize one outstanding adult from Midland Park, one from the Church of the Nativity, and an outstanding Midland Park youth. One person will receive the Outstanding Neighbor Award. Community Night will be held on June 2 at 7:30 p.m. During this event, the Knights will distribute donations to various charities, present several student scholarships, and recognize outstanding teachers and individuals who are active in the community. Friends of the Library fundraiser set On Monday, May 23, the Blue Moon Mexican Café in Boulder Run Shopping Center in Wyckoff will sponsor a Community Night fundraiser to benefit the Friends of the Midland Park Library. The restaurant will donate 20 percent of all lunch, dinner, take out, delivery, or gift card purchases. To participate, present a Blue Moon Community Night flyer from the website BlueMoonMexicanCafe.com. Click on the community tab, then click Community Nights, and scroll down to Midland Park Friends of the Library. Flyers may also be obtained at the library’s circulation desk. The Midland Park Library is located at 250 Godwin Avenue. Parade participants sought The Midland Park Memorial Day Committee encourages community civic and sports organizations, houses of worship, neighborhood activists and businesses to take an active part in this year’s Memorial Day Parade. Tennis instruction offered Midland Park Recreation is offering a Saturday tennis instruction for children on May 21, and June 11 and 18. Children will receive instruction in groups by grade level. Register for Olympic Day Registration is open for the Midland Park Olympic Day set for Saturday June 4 at 9 a.m. The program is open to children ages five through 12. Events on this day will include a 40 yard dash, long jump, obstacle course, shot put, and one lap runs. Registration forms are available at borough hall, 280 Godwin Avenue, or the DePhillips Center, 50 Dairy Street. ‘Behind the Seams’ event to benefit Eva’s Village Sal Lauretta for Men will host the Second Annual Behind the Seams -- a fashion show to benefit Eva’s Village, a non-profit comprehensive social service organization located in Paterson. The show will highlight the new spring/summer lines currently on display at the store. The event will be held May 23 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Bottagra Restaurant, located at 80 Wagaraw Road in Hawthorne. This event will help support the many anti-poverty programs at Eva’s Village, whose mission is to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, treat the addicted, and provide medical care to the poor with respect for the human dignity of each individual. Library board to meet The Board of Trustees of the Midland Park Memorial Library will meet on May 18. The Board meets at 7:30 p.m. at the library located at 250 Godwin Avenue, Midland Park. Meetings are open to the public. Beefsteak to benefit Republican Club The Midland Park United Republican Club will sponsor a Beefsteak Dinner on Thursday, May 19. The event will be held at 7 p.m. at the Midland Park Firehouse, Witte Drive, and will be catered by Nightingale. Tickets are $40 a person. Attendees may bring their own beverages. Foundation fundraiser recognizes teachers The Midland Park Public Education Foundation has announced a new fundraiser to benefit the borough’s schools while recognizing a child’s teacher for a job well done. To participate, visit www.mppef.org to obtain a teacher appreciation contribution form, then send a note describing a teacher or staff member’s special qualities, along with a tax-deductible donation of at least $10 per entry, to the Midland Park Public Education Foundation. A letter will be sent to the honored teacher sharing the note of appreciation. The school principal will also be notified. Parents and students may recognize a current or past teacher. The program will run all year. The foundation is an all-volunteer not-for-profit organization that enhances and supports new curriculum initiatives and enrichment opportunities within Midland Park’s public school system.
