No details concerning Meyer’s suspension have ever been released by the school district. Baratta will receive a salary of $121,431 and will replace Robert Van Saders, who is retiring at the end of this school year after 14 years in that position. Baratta holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education and health from William Paterson University. He received his master’s in educational leadership from the College of Saint Elizabeth in May 2007. In September of 1999, Baratta taught at Norwood Elementary School as a physical education teacher for kindergarten through eighth grade. In 2003, he accepted a teaching position at Northern Highlands Regional High School and progressed into a student coordinator. In April of 2008, he began serving in his current position as an assistant principal of Indian Hills High School. Baratta began his high school coaching career in 1998 at Cresskill High School. After accepting a teaching position in Norwood, he was afforded the opportunity to coach the students in the middle school program and the students in their sending district at Northern Valley Old Tappan. He continued his coaching career at Northern Highlands Regional High School, with coaching experience including football, boys’ and girls’ basketball, winter track, spring track, and various intramural programs. Baratta said he believes his lifetime of experience on and off the field has prepared him for his new position. Along with his knowledge of athletics, he believes his background in physical education will serve him well, and his administrative experience and familiarity with the Ramapo Indian Hills School District will give him the ability to enter the position and hit the ground running.
