VFW hosts Annual Plant Sale Midland Park Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7806 will hold its annual Plant Sale from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7. The sale will be held on the property of Jersey Gas, at the corner of Godwin and Vreeland avenues in Midland Park. A wide assortment of colorful annuals and perennials in pots, flats, and hanging baskets will be available at reasonable prices. Funds raised by the group are used to benefit hospitalized veterans and for the upkeep of the VFW Post’s Faner Road headquarters. Auxiliary to install officers The Midland Park Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary will meet for lunch on Wednesday, May 11 at 11:30 a.m. at The Kurth Cottage Café at Valley Hospital, 223 North Van Dien Avenue in Ridgewood. A brief business meeting will recap last month’s Fashion Show Fundraiser. The group will also install its new officers. Fundraiser recognizes teachers The Midland Park Public Education Foundation has announced a new fundraiser to benefit the borough’s schools while recognizing a child’s teacher for a job well done. To participate, visit www.mppef. org to obtain a teacher appreciation contribution form, then send a note describing a teacher or staff member’s special qualities, along with a tax-deductible donation of at least $10 per entry, to the Midland Park Public Education Foundation. A letter will be sent to the honored teacher sharing the note of appreciation. The school principal will also be notified. Parents and students may recognize a current or past teacher. The program will run all year. The Midland Park Public Education Foundation is an all-volunteer not-for-profit organization that enhances and supports new curriculum initiatives and enrichment opportunities within Midland Park’s public school system. Free Rabies Clinic set The Midland Park Board of Health and Northwest Bergen Regional Health Commission will hold the annual free Rabies Clinic on Monday, May 9 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at the municipal building, 280 Godwin Avenue. Rabies vaccinations will be given to dogs on leashes from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., and to cats in carriers from 7:30 to 8 p.m. Residents from other municipalities are welcome to bring their pets.
