This recognition program was initiated in 2009 to honor those who have made significant contributions to the Midland Park School District’s students in prior years. The Education Hall of Fame is open to past employees of the school district who made significant contributions to the improvement of the school system in their own special ways over a sustained period of time, over at least a five-year period. Nominees must have been retired from the Midland Park School District for at least three years at the time that their names are submitted. The nominee may be a past teacher, support person (e.g., nurse), administrator, or instructional aide. Midland Park resident Betty Sullivan (at right) was recently be honored for her many years of dedicated service to the Midland Park Children’s Love Fund, Inc., which she help found along with the late New Jersey State Senator Garrett Hagedorn. Sullivan was the driving force behind the launching of The Love Fund in 1977 to aid a student in the Midland Park schools who was struggling with anorexia. She served as its chairman for many years. The organization’s name, which originally referred to that student, was eventually changed and the organization was refocused with the goal of providing confidential aid to other community children in need. Pictured below are Love Fund members including Co-Chairman Michelle Nejmeh and Laurie Kamp. To contribute, send gifts to P.O. Box 327, Midland Park 07432 or drop off at any of the town’s banks.
