The program, starring Elaine Bromko, will offer a gallery of intimate portraits of three remarkable, radically different first ladies. DeVries offers job search seminar Debbie De Vries, a career coach from CTCR Resumes, will offer tips on preparing for a job search, interview, and employers’ expectations at a seminar on Wednesday, April 6 at 7 p.m. at the Franklin Lakes Public Library. Multi-Chamber event is April 6 The Franklin Lakes Chamber of Commerce’s MultiChamber Event has been rescheduled for Wednesday, April 6 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Endless Vine, 825 Franklin Lake Road in Franklin Lakes. Chamber members from Wyckoff, Allendale, Ho-Ho-Kus, Waldwick, and Midland Park are invited to attend. The event was postponed from Jan. 26. G. Mitchell Hartman will be the guest speaker. Teen Poetry Contest announced Franklin Lakes Public Library will sponsor a Teen Poetry Contest during National Library Week 2011 and National Poetry Month. All writers in grade six through 12 are invited to create an original poem or song lyrics of 250 words or less. Submissions are due on or before Monday, April 4. There is a limit of two submissions per person. All students who live in Franklin Lakes, or attend school in Franklin Lakes (including Indian Hills and Ramapo High Schools), are welcome to participate. Entries will be judged on creativity, clarity, polish, and overall impact. Winners will be announced during National Library Week, April 10 through 16. The Grand Prize is a $50 American Express Gift Card. Contest entry forms are available at the library and on the Teen Space on www.franklinlakeslibrary.org. Youth dodge ball offered The Franklin Lakes Recreation Department will offer dodge ball to students in grades three through eight this spring at Elite Training Academy. The 10-week program will be held on Wednesdays, April 6 through June 8. Children in grades three through five will meet from 4 to 5 p.m. and children in grades six through eight will gather from 3 to 4 p.m. The cost of the program is $75. Contact the recreation department at (201) 847-8200 to register. Marcia Clark to speak at luncheon Marcia Clark, the head prosecutor in the 1994 murder trial of football player O.J. Simpson and author of “Without a Doubt,” will be the featured speaker at the Friends of the Franklin Lakes Library annual luncheon. This event will be held Thursday, April 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Indian Trail Club. Clark was a successful homicide prosecutor in Los Angeles before she was appointed to head the prosecution of Simpson. She was a strong advocate of victims’ rights and won many of her cases because of her effectiveness in the courtroom. Lawyers for the defense praised her for her ethical principles, and her tenacity, preparation, and competence in the courtroom. Clark’s second book, “Guilt by Association,” her fiction debut, is due to be released on April 20. Tickets for the luncheon are $60 for Friends of the Library members, $75 for patrons of the library, and $100 for platinum friends of the library. Register for autobiography workshop Registration has begun for the spring term of Janice Rubin’s autobiography workshops at the Presbyterian Church at Franklin Lakes. Rubin will offer classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. The Tuesday workshop will begin April 12; the Thursday workshop will begin April 14. Classes will meet from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. for eight weeks. Tuition is $96. Rubin, a retired award-winning journalist, provides students with a 19-page syllabus to guide them as they write at home and share their stories with the writing community.
