National Day of Prayer service planned The service for the National Day of Prayer is set for Thursday, May 5 at noon at the Midland Park Fire House, 45 Witte Drive. The entire community is invited to attend. Fire department plans Golf Outing The Midland Park Fire Department will hold its Third Annual Charity Golf Open on May 2 at Great Gorge Golf Club in Vernon. The day includes continental breakfast, cart, 19th hole cash bar, awards, and lunch for $125 per person. Attention: MPFD Golf Registration. Alliance offers bus to prom The Midland Park Alliance will provide chauffeuring for Midland Park prom attendees. Transportation, via luxury coach, will leave the high school at 6 p.m. The cost is $20 per person. Reservations are on a first come basis. Autism Awareness fundraiser set Kid’s Clubhouse, 85 Godwin Avenue, will donate the proceeds from its April 1 and 4 Open Session Play Time to Autism Speaks in support of Autism Awareness Day. Tax filing assistance offered to seniors The Northwest Bergen Regional Senior Citizens Center in Midland Park is offering free assistance to seniors, age 60 and over, in filing their tax returns. AARP volunteer tax advisors will be available Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. through April 13. Tax advisors will only do simple returns. All taxes will be filed electronically. Summer camp registration to begin Midland Park Summer Camp mail in registration is underway. Forms are available at http://www.mpnj.com/ mp_rec.asp, at the DePhillips Community Center, and at borough hall. The camp program, open to children entering grades one through eight, is filled with activities and theme weeks. Camp will run from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., June 27 through
Aug. 5. A once-a-week extended day option until 3 p.m. is available. The cost per week is $65 for the first child, $50 for the second child, and $40 for the third child. There is a $155 a week maximum per family. Space is limited; early registration is advised. Registrations will be taken in the order in which they are received. Fashion Show/luncheon tickets on sale The Midland Park Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary will hold its 42nd Annual Luncheon/Fashion Show/ Special Auction on Tuesday, April 12. The popular event will take place at the Grand Conservatory of the Brownstone House in Paterson beginning at 11:30 a.m. Fashions by Kurth Cottage Gift Shop will be modeled by auxiliary members. Watoto Children’s Choir to perform Watoto Children’s Choir from Uganda will present its “Concert of Hope” at Faith Reformed Church, 95 Prospect Street in Midland Park, on Tuesday, April 5 at 7 p.m. Watoto Children’s Choirs have toured throughout the world, spreading a message of hope for Africa’s orphaned and vulnerable children. The choir presents Watoto’s vision and mission through music and dance, with an energetic fusion of contemporary gospel and traditional African rhythms. Concerts of Hope demonstrate the life-changing love of God experienced by the children of Watoto. The choir is on a mission to raise the next generation of Ugandan leaders to become responsible and productive citizens. Watoto is currently caring for 2,000 parentless children. Through music and dance, these children share Watoto’s vision: Rescue a Child, Raise a Leader, Rebuild a Nation. A free-will offering will be taken. Pancake Breakfast planned The Midland Park Lions Club will hold its annual Pancake Breakfast on Sunday, April 10 from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Midland Park Fire House Hall, 45 Witte Drive. The breakfast will include pancakes, bacon, sausages,

Umpires sought Midland Park Baseball Association is seeking umpires for the spring/summer recreation league. Umpires must be in eighth grade or older and are required to attend the umpire clinic to be held at the DePhillips Community Center. Tea Party launches website The Midland Park Tea Party recently launched a website, www.MidlandParkTeaParty.org, to promote patriotism and traditional values. The group is united around two issues: the economy/jobs and reducing the deficit. The site includes a “We the People” forum for individuals interested in the issues and opportunities related to the role of government, individual liberties, and “American exceptionalism.” Lions offer scholarships The Midland Park Lions Club is offering two $500 scholarships to Midland Park High School’s graduating seniors. High school seniors who reside in Midland Park and plan to attend an institution of higher learning are encouraged to apply. Students may contact their guidance counselors for an application. All other students may pick up an application from the Midland Park Public Library at 250 Godwin Avenue in Midland Park. Scholarships will be awarded based on the applications submitted, which will be at the sole discretion of the Midland Park Lion’s Club. Applications are due April 12. Meals on Wheels seeks volunteers Community Meals Inc., a non-profit meal delivery program, is reaching out to the Midland Park community for volunteer drivers. CMI’s mission is to provide nutritious meals to individuals who are unable to shop or cook for themselves due to age or disability, and who live in Midland Park, Glen Rock, Ridgewood, Allendale, Ho-Ho-Kus, and Waldwick. Midland Park is currently CMI’s third largest market, with 15 clients being served. Currently there are no volunteer drivers from Midland Park. Volunteer drivers donate their time and vehicles to deliver meals on one of the nine routes. Drivers meet in the kitchen of Christ Church in Ridgewood at 11 a.m. and usually complete their routes in under an hour. Weekly, bi-weekly, and substitute opportunities are available. For some clients, the CMI volunteer may be their only contact that day. For more information, call (201) 447-8295 between Deadline is noon on Wednesday.
