During the month of April, Huntington Learning Centers in the area will participate in Mathematics Awareness Month. Started in 1986, Mathematics Awareness Month is promoted each year by the Joint Policy Board for Mathematics, which includes the American Mathematical Society, the American Statistical Association, the Mathematical Association of America and the Society for Industrial Applied Mathematics. “Math education is absolutely critical to our nation’s progress, but on a smaller scale, math is a practical necessity for everyone, including young students,” said Eileen

Fresh air, sunshine, new friends, fun, games, and special memories all add up to Ridgewood Summer Day Camp. This year’s camp will open for the 2011 summer season on Tuesday, June 28 and run for six weeks through Friday, Aug. 5. Children entering grades one through six will enjoy arts and crafts, organized games, swimming, special events, and optional trips. Camp will be held at The Stable, Graydon Pool, Maple Park, Veteran’s Field, Leuning Park, and the community center from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Children are to bring a bag lunch and beverage. Bus transportation is available to all.
Summer camp registration begins
The day camp registration fee is $500 per child, which includes two camp T-shirts and optional bus transportation. Trips are also optional with limited space; prices vary and registration will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. All campers must possess a 2011 Graydon Pool membership badge.
