Wyckoff
Wyckoff Day scheduled for Saturday, June 11
Buoyed by the tremendous success its inaugural event enjoyed last year, the Wyckoff Day Planning Committee will hold its 2011 Wyckoff Day on Saturday, June 11. Held at the Wyckoff Family YMCA at 691 Wyckoff Avenue, festivities will begin at noon. The event will feature children’s rides and activities, food, live music, and entertainment all day. The planning committee is also currently recruiting local vendors who will be selling a wide range of goods and services, including clothing, pottery, jewelry, and other items. Last year, more than 180 vendors, civic groups, and other local non-profits participated. “It was a great day for Wyckoff last year, and really brought the community together,” said Lee Parker, chair of the Wyckoff Day Planning Committee, which is composed of representatives from the Wyckoff Family YMCA, the Wyckoff Township Committee, the Wyckoff Recreation Department, the Wyckoff Chamber of Commerce, and the Municipal Alliance. “We’ve made some improvements in the layout on the basis of last year’s experience to make it an even better event this year,” Parker added. “We’re ensuring there’s something for everybody,” said Joy Vottero, executive director of the Wyckoff Family YMCA. One of last year’s more popular attractions—a dunk tank featuring a succession of local municipal officials—will be back. The day will be capped off by a performance of the Jimmy Buffet tribute band, “Jimmy and the Parrots,” which also plays classic rock ‘n’ roll. Jimmy and the Parrots played to the enthusiastic crowds at the Y last summer. Wyckoff Day is run at no expense to the township. Sponsors and vendors are welcome. Tables are available for $50 for a non-profit organization and $100 for a business. Information is available by contacting Jennifer Sauer at (201) 891 2081, extension 117, or jennifers@wyckoffymca. org.
